Guest guest
And some who do know about autism believe it too! Hopefully those here that we know are working to change things in the NAS will be successful, meanwhile maybe don't look lol. I think Jane Asher is appearing on O'Grady this coming week, the intro was all about her cake baking but I would imagine autism will get a mention, may not be want we want to hear though. Guest guest
that is outrageous, I agree. the whole thing sounds as if autistic people have a CHOICE, as in: I can speak and be just like other people but CHOSE not to!!!! this is basically where all the neurodiversity bullshit stems from, saying "leave autistic kids as they are, as it is their choice to be different".... it is the choice of word 'prefer', isn't it? as if saying prefers blue t-shirt to the green one. ... implying that one day he can chose the green one to be his favourite.... arghhhhhnatasa>> Hi I have just received an NAS leaflet in the post and I really fail to > see how they are helping people to understand autism.> There is a picture of Mason and it says he has autism and prefers > not to speak! This makes me so angry. It's like saying a child with > cerebral palsey prefers not to use his arms and legs or a blind child > prefers not to see! Who writes these leaflets? Has Deer got a job > with the NAS?!> It doesn't seems to matter how many medical papers are written about > the physical illnesses people with autism have or how much evidence > there is that our children have been made autistic the good old NAS > still publishes tripe like this! Guest guest
I saw it too. I was so angry I couldn’t even write a message here. They are EVIL and it is not a case of them bending to lots of different people’s needs, cos no-one is listening to us. SARA (whose son apparently used to choose to headbang, have stomach and head pains and have watery diarrhoea until I heartlessly put a stop to it all) -----Original Message----- From: Autism-Biomedical-Europe [mailto:Autism-Biomedical-Europe ] On Behalf Of peta3366 Sent: 03 November 2007 12:26 To: Autism-Biomedical-Europe Subject: NAS leaflet - patronising and insulting Hi I have just received an NAS leaflet in the post and I really fail to see how they are helping people to understand autism. There is a picture of Mason and it says he has autism and prefers not to speak! This makes me so angry. It's like saying a child with cerebral palsey prefers not to use his arms and legs or a blind child prefers not to see! Who writes these leaflets? Has Deer got a job with the NAS?! It doesn't seems to matter how many medical papers are written about the physical illnesses people with autism have or how much evidence there is that our children have been made autistic the good old NAS still publishes tripe like this! I could rant on and on - people who don't know about autism believe this crap! Peta
