(Note: Lipitor is a medication used for lowering cholesterol. It is

known as a " statin " medication and often causes muscle pain, fatigue

and weakness. For this reason, the " statin " family of medications are

contraindicated for persons with CMT. I am posting this in light of

our recent discussions about lowering cholesterol ~ G)

Pfizer Is Sued Over Lipitor

http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/medicalnews.php?newsid=44920

NEW YORK — Two men who say Pfizer Inc.'s cholesterol fighter Lipitor

caused health problems such as memory loss have sued the company,

adding the world's bestselling drug to a long list of those targeted

by plaintiffs' attorneys.

, a 67-year-old Georgia man, charges that Lipitor

caused his memory loss, nerve damage and bouts of fatigue, according

to a lawsuit filed late Wednesday in New York Supreme Court.

Mazzariello, a 47-year-old trial attorney from New York, also

is suing Pfizer in a separate suit over problems he said were caused

by Lipitor.

The $12-billion-a-year drug ruined his life by causing muscle and

nerve damage and memory loss, Mazzariello said at a news conference

Thursday.

Mazzariello took Lipitor for two months, and was on the drug

for a little more than a year, they said.

A spokesman for Pfizer said the company would vigorously challenge in

court all claims in these suits.
