Hi ,

Combining posts - I don't tuck in Turbo Jam either, my back doesn't like that movement at all which is why i traded my Lotte Berk/Bar Method DVDs, too b/c the exercises suggest a tucked bottom - not good for my particular structure, that's for sure! :)

For barbells, I picked up a starter set some time ago from Target, I think it had a 3 lb bar (it isn't a full length bar, it is a little smaller than what is considered "standard") and came w/ two 2.5 lb plates, two 5 lb plates, and two 10 lb plates. I have thought about "upgrading" to a larger bar that could accommodate more weight (and buying some extra plates) but just haven't done it yet. For the most part, I think I prefer dumbells for many exercises. For some a bar is nice, but not necessary. W/ dumbells I feel I can work both sides evenly w/out having my stronger side take over and have my weak side "go along for the ride." I do like a bar for squats and lunges where the issue of eveness doesn't really come in to play. I do have wrist issues at times when I use my bar, though - particularly if I have my bar across my shoulders as I would for doing a squat or lunge. Hope tha

thelps!!

Donna
