Getting Up from a fall

How do you all get up from a fall?

Do any of you have a lifting system that someone could use in the

home (or portable for like on the driveway when you run off the side

of your ramp getting in Van (only did this once as sun was in my

eyes)) to get you up off of the floor or driveway?

I just had another fall in the bathroom. I didn't injure anything,

thank goodness, but was sandwiched in as I fell with crutches

forward landing on stomach. This bathroom is the " jack and jill "

type where it has pocket doors on each side, long and narrow. The

doors are only 24 " wide.

Luckily, my husband was home and could move the 3 & 1 toilet riser out of the way

so I could turn over and inch my way out of bathroom by raising one hip forward,

then the other. I felt like a sardine in the can...ha!

I scooted myself out the bedroom, down the hall, through the den, to

the patio/plant room where my ramp platform comes to the sliding

glass door. I scooted to the side, dangled my legs off side. My

husband took my scooter around and down the ramp into the

patio/plant room which was lower. I still needed two firm pillows

under me to raise me up more so I could push and pull to stand to

transfer to scooter seat.

Thank goodness I didn't have to call the Fire Department as still in

my gown. It seems like when I start reducing my food intake, I

start falling again. I have lost some weight but don't know how

much until I can weigh at Neuro's office on 5/4. I probably burned

a lot of calories scooting around and thankfully no carpet burn as

it's soft (no Berber for me).

I always feel confident and self-sufficient, until I fall or my

scooter goes on the blink, then I realize my C-M-T and need for

assistance.
