Chemotherapy drugs and CMT

I have been recently dx'ed with ovarian cancer and will be undergoing

chemetherapy treatments - standard chemo drugs are platinum based or

taxol based. Both of these classes of drugs are listed in the

neurotoxoic drug list on the CMTA Newsletters.

Has anyone else out there had to undergo chemotherapy and what drugs

were used and did they affect your CMT?

I have seen the newly listed article about " Medication-induced

exacerbation of neuropathy in CMT " and I still need to read it

completely.

FYI, my CMT is moderate, I walk without aids, do not use orthotics, but

can no longer drink any alcoholic beverages because my feet will go

numb for a period of a few hours. With my recent surgery, it seems

that I have more numbness in my feet than prior to the surgery (and I

did notify the anesthesia team of my CMT). I am 43 years old.

Thank you,

Donna in Tampa, Florida

p.s. Hello to anyone who may remember me from the old MGH CMT Chatroom.
