Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Well, I was *bad*, I got a coupon from Borders for 40% off all DVDs (up to 3) and I couldn't resist. I think I made some "wise" purchases though - I got Amy Bento's 10 Min Solution with the Resistance Band (figure this one will be great for our trip this summer - I plan to bring it, and most of my other 10 min workouts along for quick morning and evening workouts in the hotel room), I got Thrive Kickboxing w/ Helen Dunne (got some good reviews on VF, and my review follows!), and I got Firm's Killer Legs (Or whatever it is called, w/ Kelsie s, originally part of the TransFIRMation system). All of this came to $30, which I thought was a decent deal. Anyway, this morning I broke in Thrive Kickboxing for my cardio workout. The reviews on VF said this was very Tae-Bo-like and I totally agree. It was very much like doing a workout with a female ! Helen Dunne is very "real" and motivating. The workout has a sort of unpolished feel to it - it did seem very much like a "live" class as described on the cover. The kickboxing choreography was very similar to Tae Bo - Helen even counts like (and does not mirror cue - not a bad thing since it is all basic, athletic stuff). The cardio alternates between slower tempo and more fast paced tempo moves which give it a bit of an interval effect. I really liked it (but I do like Tae Bo, so it isn't a surprise that I would). My only wish is that the cardio section were longer - It is around 30 minutes and I worked up a good sweat! The warm-up is decent and at the end of the cardio Helen and her cast does ab work alternating with push-ups (3 sets of 10). There is a short stretch at the end. Overall, this one is recommended if you like basic, athletic Tae-Bo style choreography for your kickboxing routine. If you like 's style, you will like this one! After this workout I added on 10 Min Solution stretch from Amy Bento's workout. Good stretches using the band. I'm looking forward to doing more from this DVD w/ the band - it looks like it will make a great travel workout. Anyway, hope everyone has a great day. Tomorrow is strength and I'm leaving it open depending on energy level and time. Take care! Donna
Guest guest
i like the lower body and abs workout especially on this but this is such a useful dvd. i think you find it very useful when traveling but they are also great warm ups and add ons. i just love amy. although i don't need another band/tube workout i will probably wind buying her figure 8 tubing workout too. kassia
Guest guest
Oh! I'm jealous about the Thrive KB workout! Thanks for the review, Donna! It sounds like a keeper! I too have Amy Bento's workout with the band and agree, take it with you on the road! Thanks also for the " unsolicited tip " on the check at closing time. Please send more tips my way to my personal email if you have any - I need all the help I can get! Hugs!
