I've got to start taking better notes about who said what, but in answer to

someone's inquiry, I experienced a rapid progression at about age 50, which led

to my diagnosis(CMT1A)

I had " funny feet " most of my life, but suddenly my hand strength started

slipping away, pain and numbness in my feet, balence issues standing and

walking, so yes, it can definately speed up, like they say everyone can be

different in the progression.

Now that I know what it is I'm doing, C and E, and excercising like a maniac.

Often gentle, " quick " excercises like pushing up and down on my toes while

standing, first with my feet turned in, and then 20-30 more with my feet turned

out. This gets at different muscles all around my calves and ankles.

I also have a couple of hand squeezing devices and try to do 2-3 sts a day,

squeezing until my hands are tired, it only takes a few minutes. And I love sand

walking, really digging my heels in, and trying to flex and feel my toes. I

don't believe " when a nerve is dead it's dead " , experts disagree, some nerves

can regrow and new stuff is coming up all the time.

The only thing my father left me is a sense of humor, but it may prove to be the

most durable of assets, eh SPY, I notice you have a great sense of humor!

I was walking barefoot this morning, feet partially numb with some swollen spots

that feel like small ballons in my feet, and I realized that if I stepped in

fresh dog doo, I wouldn't be able to feel it as much as when I was younger,

which is great because it is one of the worst feelings! ha ha I really enjoy

turning on the cold water at the end of my shower and running my feet under it

ahhhhhhh. Thanks for input everybody

GOD BLESS
