Hi Tammy,

By all means, go see the orthopedist; and get a 2nd opinion from

another orthopedist. Your daughter may be able to have some in-shoe

custom made orthotics made like I wear - support for the feet - nothing

up the leg. Very simple and easy.

PTs mean well, but yes, many do not know CMT, same with docs. Ask the

orthopedist to explain exactly the mechanics of your daughter's feet.

He/she will watch her walk, and from that can get a good idea of how to

proceed. Ask the ortho doc for referrals to an orthotist - many orthos

have their own people who specialize too. The ortho doc may alsoo guide

you on some specific exercises - stretches, backwards walking, walking

in said, etc., to strengthen leg/ankle muscles. My first ortho doc had

me do this. Make sure you see an ortho doc who specializes in FEET.
