Guest guest
Hi We have got the yeast back again - Luke's appetite has been slowly decreasing, he has been waking on occasions at night, he is less focussed and today the laughing has started. I plan to get another prescription of nystatin again - the last one was about 2-3 months ago, but my question is what can we do to stop the yeast coming back. We give Luke candex enzyme (1 cap per day) on empty stomach, I use oxypowder once a week to keep things moving - he goes every 2-3 days and I give him 2 caps of sacc bol and 1 cap of CP1 at night - obviously this isn't enough to keep the yeast at bay. Luke also has houston enzymes with every meal. Has anyone used a protocol that has kept the yeast away? Also has anyone had success with the SCD diet to stop re-occuring yeast. It is definately an option we are considering now as I am not sure what else to try. Any feedback would be great. Thanks Nicola (Mum of Luke - about to turn 6 next month!) Guest guest
Nicola, the only thing that occurs to me is that we use oxypowder once a day to keep things moving and I think Luke has more of a history of impaction than Tom. Is this a possibility? The other thing to consider is a maintenance dose of Nystatin. We give Tom Nystatin 3 times a day but to tell you the truth I’m not that happy with giving so much and I’m wondering who’s got it right. Are you supposed to continue with Nystatin forever? Guest guest
Nicola, I'm not a big fan of the Rx's for yeast, although we have used Diflucan. I didn't notice that it improved anything. This is what I tend to use for my son, who is 41 pounds. Today, for example, I will use 2 culturelle, 4 Sacc Boulaardi, 2 scoops of Primal Defense, 2 packs of threelac, and 2 CP1. Over time I rotate things in and out. For example, I have SuperPro BioGold and Fivelac waiting to rotate in. When I'm done the bottle of SB, I will start back on Candex, and then he gets 4 to 6 a day. It gets expensive, that's for sure, and I am hoping that when we introduce kefir and homemade yogurt--and also start SCD--that we will be able to cut down, but if I go less than this sort of level, we get yeast, particularly because we chelate and are starting a viral protocol. Best of luck, Anita > > Hi > > We have got the yeast back again - Luke's appetite has been slowly decreasing, he has been waking on occasions at night, he is less focussed and today the laughing has started. Guest guest
plan to get another prescription of nystatin again - the last one was about 2-3 months ago, but my question is what can we do to stop the yeast coming back. >>Its tough but its unlikley to stop coming back until the reason it started in the first place is gone. Gut, viral or metal issues maybe (and or all of them). Its annoying but it should be getting easier to treat as time goes on. We do low sugar (his flare ups are only when he sneaks something sweet) Sacc B 4 at night & 1-2 CP1, Culturelle, Primal Defense, Biokult which ever takes my fancy, Candex at first sign of a flare, HNI enzymes with food to reduce stool matter in bowel and therefore food for bugs to feed on. Recently added Yasko style gut herbs with good effect (until he smeaked 1 litre of fresh orange juice while I was away in Surrey grhhhhhhhh) Neem, Goldeseal, Bay Lead, Oregon Grape We have done extensive chelation and we can zap it back in a few days now, used to take forever in the olden days. It does get easier, hang in there Mandi x
Guest guest
Thanks Mandi We have recently got Luke to drink juice and because he doesn't eat much fruit we were pleased with this - but the orange, mango and pineapple have probably fed the yeast - yikes!!! Back to water and rice milk I think. Plus I need to order some more CP1 and sacc bol - will up the dose. Guest guest
Hi Yet again the yeast has returned and we had only finished giving Luke a course of nystatin about 3 weeks ago. I can't understand it. Luke has no appetite, lots of giggling, smelly stools - won't be long before he starts waking in the night! We have been giving: 2 CP1 at bedtime 2 sacc bol at bedtime Enzymes (Zyme Prime and No Fenol) with every meal (though we hadn't been given peptizyde - but Dr H just recommended that we give this also even though Luke is on gf/cf diet - as it helps break down other proteins!!) Candex on empty stomach in morning and mid afternoon. Very very low sugar Only fruit - one small box of raisins sometimes, odd banana - no fruit juice I realise there are other things I can try - but it is difficult to get Luke to eat the yucky supps!! Please can anyone recommend what else I can do. I know I have mentioned this before - but perhaps we need to change his diet to SCD! Sorry to sound like a broken record. Would love some advice. Guest guest
Hi Nicola, sorry to hear he’s not well and hope you’re coping. Dr Heard has Tom permanently on Nystatin. We never stop it. advised more Nystatin than Dr Heard so he takes 2.5 mls 3 times per day all the time. We have been giving Tom fruit and fruit juice lately and no sign of it returning yet. Also, the minute yeast returns advised an Oxypowder clearout followed by the treatment. Hope that helps, SARA -----Original Message----- From: Autism-Biomedical-Europe [mailto:Autism-Biomedical-Europe ] On Behalf Of Nicola Trotman Sent: 07 August 2007 20:05 To: Autism-Biomedical-Europe Subject: Re: RE: Yeast Again Hi Yet again the yeast has returned and we had only finished giving Luke a course of nystatin about 3 weeks ago. Guest guest
Hello Nicola I am mum to (4 1/2) is permantly on nystatin he has been since March, I have have just added oregano oil in a capsule for him and pure aloe vera. We also do oxy powder as a maintainance poo clearout every day. he is on CP1 at bedtime too. He is GF/GF we give peptizyde and zyme prime with every meal. We did try SCD for a short while, but I couldn't get my head round it as Ed is gf/cf. For us the nystatin is the key at the moment to keeping gut bugs under control, could you keep giving him a dose as the gut bugs seem to be in control at the mo.
