Guest guest
That is such a load of *****cks about impaction caused by kids holding it in, sends me throught the roof, that is the classical " we do not have a clue what is going on here so we better come up with any type of dogmatic answer " . Yes, it may be that some kids hold it in some of the time (we had it happen when attempted potty training, but it was a one off) but these kids have serious, real gut problems, including inflammation and problems with gut motility, both can IMO cause both diarrhea and constipation. I doubt there is a ready answer to this, the best I could come up with when confronted with a stupid paed recently was mention a few studies showing REAL impaction and REAL dysbiosis in asd kids, and when she did not have answers to how this can be... actually she did say that impaction showing in Murch study was due to kids holding it in, but I said that our problem was actually soft and mushy stools, and suspecting that impaction might be the case also in addition to inflammation, she said 'no way he is impacted' and I said 'how do you actually KNOW unless you refer us to gastro specialist etc etc'. And I asked her how she could be so sure there is no dysbiosis and inflammation and how could she possibly be so sure that healing the gut has no impact on behaviours if she never witnessed any of it... To cut the long story short she repeatedly said that both diarrhea and constipation in some kids was just " NORMAL " (serious!), when asked what about pain, my ds was in so much pain when younger due to gut problems, she also said " THAT IS JUST NORMAL... JUST THE WAY IT IS IN SOME KIDS " (!!! I felt she was aware how awful that sounded but had no other answer... ) in the end she was greatly upset by me not accepting her answers and asking more and more questions that she could not answer in a logical and humanistic way .... and eventually did make referral to gastro which was what we came to her for. ( :-) ) Sorry to ramble on so long, I guess the point I am trying to make is arm yourself with studies and findings showing inflammation and dysbiosis, and instead coming up with ready answers it may be better to ask them many many questions that they have no answers to, just to show them how stupid and unethical their dogmas are. you can find links to several studies here: http://www.autismcalciumchannelopathy.com/Gl_Issues.html hth Natasa > > > > > > > > > > Jay is 4 now, scd since last July I think, did have great bms > > once > > > > on scd but > > > > > they are a mushy mess. Guest guest
I think maybe they feel they should be curing your child and giving you answers (you humble, they God). But if they don't know the answers they get cross -- you are not playing fair and bringing a question they can answer. That is they blame you for their ignorance. I'm not trying to be horrid to them -- I think it's very human. xx Sally natasa778 wrote: > > That is such a load of *****cks about impaction caused by kids holding > it in, sends me throught the roof, that is the classical " we do not have > a clue what is going on here so we better come up with any type of > dogmatic answer " .
