So for thisweek I'm going to do one circuit, 2 strength and 2cardios and also fit in flexibility training.

Sounds like a great variety of exercise there, Donna.

We need to do another Ripped Rotation together. I think it was you, Carolyn, and I last time, wasn't it? I haven't done any of Jari's workouts since we did the last rotation, so that was a long time ago.

Great job today!!!

Hi Donna,

This and Jari's Get Ripped are my favorite Jari Love workouts. I liked that this one had diffferent exercises. And I loved the push-ups. I always stay on my toes, and those push-ups were a killer. I haven't done this workout in forever, but I think if I did it again, I would not have a problem w/ the push-ups anymore, because I try to do atleast 60 everyday.

It sounds like you had an awesome workout, and thanks for the review- I almost ofrgot that I had this one

Subject: Monday - Jari's Ripped 1000

Hi Everyone,I took Sunday off - I needed a break (actually, Ireally like 's idea of taking a full weekendoff once a month - I think it is good for the mind andbody - keeps the body guessing, anyway!) So for thisweek I'm going to do one circuit, 2 strength and 2cardios and also fit in flexibility training. For today I went with a virgin - Jari Love's Ripped1000. I think Kathy said this was one to be sure you"ate your wheaties" before beginning - and she isright! It is a pretty tough endurance/circuit. Oddly, the parts that got me weren't the cardiosections, rather it was some of the weight trainingsections particularly the ones that contained compoundmoves. After a weighted warm-up (Jari uses 5's) you alternatecardio segments with weight training segments. Thecardio segments are all extremely basic and athleticin style. All are high impact. One backgrounderalways shows the cardio move done without a step. Thecardio could easily be modified to the floor, arebounder or even a BOSU. The cardio is short, basicand intense (but not as hard for me as some of thecompound weighted exercises!)Here's the run down of the weight work - I used thesame weight as Jari, which when I started felt like itwould be too light, but by the time I finished itmostly seemed just right.Squats/Lunges off the step w/ Front Raise - 10 (2 5's)- this one was really hard for me, especially when sheadded the front raise. Seemed to go on forever andeventually I just alternated the front raise.Deadlift/Fly - 24 (2 12's) and 5's for fliesSquat/Lunge - 6 (2 3's) - I thought this would beridiculously easy at this weight - but not so much -it was pretty tough there. Jari doesn't use weightsbut added a riser to her step. I followed the femalebackgrounder (Laurie is the other backgrounder and shefollowed Jari) for weights.Push-Ups - 70 of them! yes, 70! She does them insets of 16, 14, 12, 10, etc. I did the first 16 and14 on my toes, the rest I did on my knees. I thoughtI'd be able to do more on my toes when it got towardsthe end and the sets were shorter, but she alsoshortened the rest periods.Clean and Press w/ Squats - I used 8's and 5's andthis was about right.Squat/Bicep Curl - 8'sTricep/Leg Extensions - I followed Jari and used 5'shere, but I could go heavier - either 8's or 10's.Chest Press/Fly - I followed Jari and used 8's, but Icould probably have used 10'sAb Work - this was a short section but did have somedifferent exercises - like the first one where you laydown on your step holding a weight and then get up toa standing position. It reminded me of something onewould see in P90X's core synergistics. The rest wasfairly standard stuff.Stretch was pretty short, but she did stretch a bitafter each cardio and weight section. All in all this was a good one! Jari is reallyemaciated looking though - at one point during thestretch you see her entire rib cage. Laurie looksawesome. There is one man in the background andanother woman. I didn't catch their names. Set was typical Jari.I do like that the workout contained a listing ofevery exercise - it really helped me to put togethermy sheet before I started! Lots of good features likethis on this DVD. There is one chapter which Ibelieve shows all the cardio modifications. It reallyis nice to see these types of features on a DVD thatsells for $14.95 (I got it at Ross for $4.99 - abargain - I wish Ripped & Chisled would show up atRoss already! GRR!! I keep seeing it at Borders andpassing it up since I want the Ross price!)I didn't get much time to add on any extra stretching, but I hope to do that tonight with the KV Sleek DVD Ipicked up. I'll just do the stretch segment on itwhich is 20 minutes and save teh cardio/strength foranother time. DH is working late this week, so if Ican get DD off to bed at a decent hour I should beable to fit this in.Anyway, hope everyone has a good day!Take care,Donna__________________________________________________________Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Good workout, Donna! I have this one, sitting in my virgin pile. Thanks

for the review. Sounds right up my alley, with the short, uncomplicated

cardio. It scares me, though.... <g>

Great review, Donna, THANKS!

This is in my virgin pile. 70 pushups? Yikes!

Am sad to hear Jari looks too thin though :(

Great job on tackling that workout! I so wish Ripped & Chiseled would

come to Ross!
