Guest guest
I'm new here, but it's my understanding that you're supposed to press the heel into the thigh/groin while you resist with the opposite leg, which keeps it from sliding. Someone else may know better, though - because I'm more a Pilates girl than a yoga girl. -Terri- How do you keep your foot from sliding down your leg in tree? My balance was really off tonight anyway so was that the problem? I can do this sometimes but not at all tonight. I was wearing cotton yoga pants and even tried to pull the pant leg up and have my foot against the skin of my thigh but that didn't help. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Terri! That makes sense. I think I was pressing more with my toes and I can see the heel offering more support. I know I wasn't trying much to resist with the opposite leg though because I was wobbling on it so much most of the time! Thanks for your help! Guest guest
How do you keep your foot from sliding down your leg in tree? I've found my foot slipping off when I'm wearing certain kinds of clothing. I think the more you do it the more your foot won't slip off. Some of it is flexibility of course. You'll get there. Tree pose is one of my favorite poses. ~*~~*~It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms and advice on AOL Money Finance.
Guest guest
I'd never noticed my foot slipping before. I don't know if I'd been wearing something different before though. I like it a lot too. When my balance is on it feels very soothing to stand in that pose. Yesterday was very not on though. My daughter learned it from the Wai Lani Little Yogis video I have and she, of course, has excellent balance especially when I don't and will just stand there saying "This is how you do it Mom!" I didn't share with her my experiences last night and I'm not going to either! Guest guest
if it's any consolation, I have trouble with this too. I think when my thighs are less fat my foot will have more room to anchor itself there. It's true though, " practice makes perfect " and while my foot placement isn't way up top, my balance has improved a little this year. Guest guest
I notice some days are good balance days and others aren't. I think my foot was near the top but certainly not all the way. I bet that probably helps too. Will keep practicing! :-) Re: Tree Pose question if it's any consolation, I have trouble with this too. Guest guest
, The beginner version is to put the foot on the inside of the calf. Whenever I feel like my balance is off, that is what I do. Guest guest
That sounds much more doable. I was doing side lying tree pose (something like that, you're lying down doing it) today in a Yoga for Inflexible People workout and had a rough time putting my leg up as high as it was shown even then. I'll try it on my calf next time, that's where it seems to want to go anyway! Thanks Tonya! Tree Pose question How do you keep your foot from sliding down your leg in tree?
