To eat or not to eat right after a work out?

In the BFL book it says not to eat for at least 1 hour after a workout. I've

been hearing

(seeing)people talking about having a protein shake immediately after working

out. What are

the advantages to that approach? Is it for those who just want to build muscle

but don't need

to

lose fat or does it offer any assistance to losing fat? I'm trying to learn

about all this stuff, but

I'm having a hard time keeping it all straight!
