Guest guest
Hello Hope, That sounds like a very aggressive treatment. I used to use a razor blade to trim the calluses when younger but never drew blood. Now the Dremel tool with a small sanding drum works well. I'll see what the new AFOs do for now and am loathe to think of an operation. How long has it been since you had the bone shaving done? Guest guest
Hi Ed, I had the shaving done 12 years ago and am happy with the results till. It was worth it. Good luck with the AFOs. My ankles are so turned and the feet twisted that even the AFOs cannot correct it. I walk almost on my ankles in my AFOs and don't bother trying to stand without them because of the pain. I am trying to find an orthopaedic surgeon who knows about CMT anywhere! I am in Ctr Barnstead NH but will travel to see a Doctor who can help. I was told on Friday that the 5 doctors I've seen cannot agree on what to do for me and none of them really know that much about muscular dystrophy so it has been left up to me to figure what one sounds like the best option. I am at a loss, I have no clue which path is the best as none of the doctors have answered my question of how the muscle disease will effect the surgery and vice versa. Know anyone??
