Guest guest
Hello everyone: Since we all share the same epidemic, I am looking for people in Connecticut. Anyone out there that had a serious trip or fall that resulted with 3 sprained ankles a bruised knee or swollen foot? I wear AFOs. Anyone who wear AFOs my suggestion is try to use them as often as possible but don't get me wrong, we love to have them off don't we, comfortable not to have them on than step outdoors and our feet twist inwards thatr result in one nasty fall, a very painful one in my case too many to count. So if you can relate to my case or anything that will interest me contact my pager/cell at mcarrier66@... I am also looking to make new friendship for people relating to my CMT Have a great day everyone ph
Guest guest
Hi ph, Welcome! I am also from Connecticut. I was diagnosed when I was 4ish and have dealt withCMT as best as I could since then. I must admit that I am nowhere near thinking of this disease as a blessing, as others have mentioned in recent posts. My dad and sister also have it, but none of us has been tested to see what type we have. I have had issues with falling over the years. More recently, I have noticed a greater frequency of falls in both icy conditions and at times when I am physically tired. Those are the times I have to remind myself to pay closer attention to what my feet are doing. I do not wear AFOs yet, although I am sure they are in my future. My sister, who's older than I, just got hers last year. Her gait had deteriorated to the point where it was necessary. I don't think mine has yet, but when the time comes, I'm sure my family will make sure I don't walk around in denial for too long!
Guest guest
, What part of CT. are you from? I am from Glastonbury. Interesting you mentioned AFOs without them I would trip, fall or even hurt myself. Oh yes I have a severe gait, to a point I have to wear my braces when I need to get up and walk even in the office from point A to point B. Are you married or single? You said your family has what you have CMT. I don't think anyone in my family has what I have. Everyone walks well and no one has those frequent trips or falls every couple of hours My CMT gets worse and worse. I also have a 4 wheel scooter. I am a MD Advocate, Vice president of my property, Disability Awareness coordinator. I also work for the State. E-mail me soon will reply back ph
