Guest guest
Any advice on bleeding gums? Our son often bites his hand. Recently we discovered that he suffers with bleeding gums when he does that. We are in touch with Dental hospital. Any suggestions? >>Does he get any vitamin C supps? Good amount f fruit and veg in his diet? Can be caused by Vit C deficiency also infection, poor oral hygeine etc Mandi x
Guest guest
Can it be anything else Mandi? Edith loves oranges and has her teeth brushed every time I remember but she's still got gingivitis. I've got it too. I remember a dentist lecturing me about eating too many biscuits when I was about 25 and knowing that I never ate biscuits at all. What's the infection link? >>Long time since I was the dental nurse, memory fading but the regular Rx for it was Flagyl and the term gingivitis often used. Would Either do mouthwash? I get a nice Xylitol one from the US, cheap to buy but expensive to ship! I could decant a bit for you to try first. Xylitol is antibacterial and good for teeth also Mandi x
Guest guest
I've just done a bit of research on past messages and someone recommended Xylitol for Strep (which is what is supposed to have caused Edith's funny turns) so it sounds a good thing to try. The Yasko protocol uses Benfotiamine for Strep. It was being discussed earlier but (I thought) for chelation. What do you use it for? >>Sam won't rinse and spit, the rest of us use it, Joe and I both have post nasal drips, i think we may have chronic strep infection hanging about our nasal passages, he isn;t keen on the Xyclear nasal spray. I use Xylitol with some of Sams more yukky Yasko supps to mask the taste and to help support the bug killing. See if you can google food grade hydrogen peroxide - I think thats 3% or summat - going on memory from way back when - I think this may also help the gingiva as mouth wash. If they use Flagyl for it they might be after anerobic stuff, thats deep seated because it doesn't like oxygen. The HP produces it I think thats may be why it helps but google it in case I am off my rocker here LOL Mandi x
Guest guest
I have got bad gingivitis and when my gums are swollen and bleeding they ache sometimes quite badly. The feeling is as intense as toothache. If your son has gone badly bleeding gums I would think they might be giving him quite a lot of pain. As with any pain, a counter-acting pain (ie biting himself) sometimes feels good. My daughter's gums seems to get swollen and bleed very easily. I clean them all the time but although it goes away for brief periods (24hours) the redness and bleeding seem to recur. I guess this is gingivitis. Someone suggested Vitamin K to me and Biotene toothpaste. I haven't tried the K but Biotene toothpaste may be helping. Sally Beate wrote: > Any advice on bleeding gums? Our son often bites his hand. Guest guest
Periodontal disease? I was told I had that, the way she explained it sounded like gingivitis that got out of control. I too have swollen gums, only sometimes bleed but no pain. Saying that I did have extreme pain sensitivity during pregnancy, had agonising pain a few times and that got better after a course of antibiotics but the swelling and bleeding of gums got only worse since that time. If it is periodontal disease, it is generally thought to be of bacterial origin, but some indications that chronic viruses are involved too! Coincidentally, one of the abstracts I had talks about minocycline protective effect in periodontal disease. Natasa > > Any advice on bleeding gums? Our son often bites his hand. Guest guest
Hi everyone, There's lots of really good advice here. Just incase it's useful in some way I thought I'd mention that I had bleeding gums after I had Eddie - well it started in pregnancy but got worse when I suddenly started with all over arthritis after having him (hypothyroidism and immune disorder etc). I think my gums were inflammed just like my joints and muscles were (difuse goiter, enlarged shoulder muscles, underarm swelling etc.) My gums bled for about 2 years and have receeded just a bit but are fine now. The first big improvement for me was taking quinine which was recommended for my immune problem - now I have learnt that it might have been working like artemesia - as an antiparastic for Lyme or other similar infections. (We have had really great improvements from artemesia). I'd also guess that eventually treating my clostrida was really good in reducing my inflammation too - and I think it did help with my gums. Best wishes, Sandy > > > In a message dated 07/05/2007 20:11:35 GMT Standard Time, > bobsallyeva@... writes: > > I've just done a bit of research on past messages and someone > recommended Xylitol for Strep (which is what is supposed to have caused > Edith's funny turns) so it sounds a good thing to try.
