Orris/violet leaf co-distillation

I just got some of this and I have two questions:

1. I thought the only way for violet leaves to release their scent was

via solvent extraction, i.e. an concrete/absolute process. I have never

smelled them, so maybe tincturing would work, too?

2. For our South African members who may have an idea of what's going on

in that part of the world re: aromatics production: Is there a thriving

violet leaf growing company or two, and for that matter iris(orris)?

If so, both the process and the suppliers are new to the industry, and

that's good.
