Guest guest
I drink Myoplex Lite - it has 1.5g Fat, 20g Carbs, 25g Protein. It taste great alone - but sometimes I mix it with bananas, strawberries, kiwi, just various fruits. `B CAT wrote: Ok, I finally picked up some EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control Protein Drinks. They have 3g fat, 4g carbs, and 17g protein. It wasn't bad so it is something that I can stick with. What do you guys drink this with? The carbs are low so do I just need to eat fruit or something with it? Any suggestions? God Bless,
Guest guest
I have tried that and I did not like the taste of it. ( The EAS drink was not bad, I guess I would just need to eat something else with it. Not sure if anyone has mixed it with something else?? Guest guest
I use the same drinks and typically put an apple, orange etc with it. Good way to get more fruit in the diet and it helps balance out the carbs and protein. > > Ok, I finally picked up some EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control Protein Drinks. > They have 3g fat, 4g carbs, and 17g protein. Guest guest
I have never found a RTD (ready to drink) shake that I liked - they all seem to have a 'tinny' or medicinal taste to me. I've tried a range of brands and of course the sugary ones dont meet the stats I want (but they do taste alot better!) ;-) Let me mention here that most RTD's are considered meal replacement drinks (known as MRP's - hehe arent we the abbreviators!)and that means just that they are usually meant to 'replace a meal' with nothing added to it. No fruit, no side carb. If they are the mostly protein kind (Carb Sense etc) then I can see eating something with it (for BFL ratios to balance a bit more), but then Myoplexs(any kind) are usually considered a stand alone MRP kind of shake with nearly balanced protein/carbs. Example: Myoplex Lite packets have 25grams protein with 19grams carbs/their RTD's have 25grams protein/20 grams carbs - so really no need to overeat a fruit on top of this. Now protein powders are way different - usually either having little to no carbs you can blenderize it with some fruit - with alot of flavor options - and probably still be lower in carbs than most RTD's. Heck a half cup of blueberries only has around 11 carbs in it. joni ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *hmmm think I will go make a coffee latte-like protein shake now* > I have tried that and I did not like the taste of it. Guest guest
I don't like a lot of the MRPs either. I do keep a stash of the Slim Fast High Protein (chocolate) on hand. The stats aren't the greatest, but great in a pinch, and reaonably priced compared to others. Calories 190 Total Fat 5 Cholesterol 10 Sodium 220 Potassium 600 Carbs 24 Fiber 5 Sugars 13 Protein 15 For my morning mid-meal, I have an applesauce oatmeal muffin (I tweaked the recipe that's posted on Spark People), and a protein shake from 1 scoop of protein mixed with water. I'd been mixing in cinnamon and instant coffee, but I actually like it better plain... or maybe I've just gotten used to the taste . Guest guest
Are these the " ready to drink " ? I love the french vanilla flavor.. I freeze it a couple hrs and then its slushy like a milk shake. I always drink these and have a fruit with it ( strawberries, or an apple.) Guest guest
Ooo, that sounds like a good idea. I'll try that soon. Thanks. Guest guest
Yes, the ones in a cans. I haven't tried the French Vanilla, just the Chocoate. I'll definitely have to try freezing one for a few hours (once it's a little warmer). K. > > Ooo, that sounds like a good idea. I'll try that soon.
