Hi..what is a precision nutrition binder?

>

> I was so excited to get my Precision Nutrition binder a couple of

days ago. It is sort of a tweaked version of BFL. I'm not happy about

the no non-fruit/veg carbs until after a workout, since I work out in

the evenings, but I'll make it work.

though I haven't tried any recipes). The recipes look great, and what

I really like are the cooking tips. One of my biggest weaknesses has

been preparing things in advance or knowing how to cook things in

different ways, but still healthy. AND, they are putting a Whole

Foods on my side of town, in what used to be a department store. It's

going to be HUGE!

I don't know if you've read the individualization guide yet, but you'll be

happy to learn that the no starchy carbs except for post-workout isn't

forever or for everyone. I get starchy carbs at every meal, for example. It

just depends on your situation and goals. Also, even though you do your

primary workout in the evenings, if you exercise at all in the morning or on

your lunch break, say take a brisk walk, you get starchy carbs afterward.

More incentive to move it. :-)

BFL and PN are actually quite similar, but I guess basic Precision Nutrition

would be considered more of a " Lean Out " menu with loads of fruits and

veggies and little bread and pasta.

Yeah, I've got to lose fat, so I will make a real effort regarding the carbs.

Plus I need more veggies in the diet. But it's good to know about the walk at

lunch. I've been thinking I should do that anyway.

I have to say, when I first picked up PN, I felt the same way you did about

the starchy carbs. Recently, I've hurt my knee (going to the specialist

today), and I've not been able to do cardio, and my lower body workouts

haven't been as intense as they were. I was really feeling bummed about it

because I'm about 20 lbs from my goal BF%.

I was talking to my trainer about how I was just annoyed that I would have

to take it easy for a while, etc, and he said " Well, you know, you can't

work out as hard, you'll have to really pay attention to your nutrition. " I

took that opportunity to really revisit the PN guidelines. Now, I decided

to cut back to the " basic " guidelines because I'm *certainly* not burning as

many calories as I was before my knee started bothering me. I've been

following the no-starchy-carbs-unless-I've-worked-out guideline, and pretty

much eating the same size protein portions I was before, with a TON of

veggies and as much fruit as I feel like, and I've lost 4 lbs in the last

1.5 weeks. So, I have to say, PN really is working for my situation right

now.

The great thing about it is that I'm loosing that weight, even not able to

work out like I would like, AND I'm not driving myself crazy with measuring

every mushroom and fanatically counting calories.

My experience with it so far hasn't been the greatest, but please

note that's only me and I know a lot of people have done super on

it! I have been going more with the fat loss percentages (40F, 35P,

25C), which is a lot lower carb than BFL, but after six weeks of that

combined with Afterburn workouts I've had no change in measurements,

no change in BF by calipers, and a weight loss of 2.5 pounds. I also

have the worst case of patellar tendonitis I've had since I used to

run marathons. :(

However, as the book notes, my portions or something are probably out

of whack so despite the disappointment I'm keeping on with it

(although I will probably change the food up somehow but I haven't

decided how yet!). Let us know how you make out with it! Good luck!

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm hoping the change will get me off the plateau

I have been on for about a month!

Ha ha. Good one! I can see it from the window where I work out, and I'm just

amazed when I see people coming out with a cart filled to the brim. Wish I could

afford it, but I have to be pretty picky about what I buy. Their bulk foods and

coffee are not too pricey, though. And they have really good cake (for free

day, of course!) ;- }
