Gretchen, et al,

This brought something to mind that I've been wondering about.

How different is diabetic neuropathy to our CMT neuropathy? I know ours is

inherited, there's is acquired, yadda, yadda. But is the treatment the same or

similar?

I ask because durable medical equipment (DME) for diabetic neuropathy is covered

under my insurance whereas DME for CMT neuropathy is not. My mother can't get

AFOs or insoles covered by Medicare at the same

frequency that Medicare covers AFOs or insoles for diabetics. I think Mother

can only get new ones once every two years and diabetics can get them every 1

year -- but don't quote me on that.

Is it just a misunderstanding in the insurance/medical

fields regarding CMT?
