Guest guest
What is 47XYY you mentioned something about being big. >>>Chromosome anomoly - extra Y - Sam has it - extra male - slow to walk, slwo to talk, loner, hairy, 'hard to rear' will turn outr a good 6cm over his expected height. He doesn;t ever really seem to have been obviously effected by it. Some fo them have it iin the moisac form where only some cells are affected - we don't know about Sams just that he has it. It was only discopvered in 1982 - its called 47XYY - being that you shold have 46 chromosomes in 23 pairs and Sam has an extra one. Its not hereditary though is convinced he has it too. My daughter is also big/large for her age (like Harvey). Can you point me in the direction to find out more. Does it affect girls as well as boys? Sorry to sound so silly, but I've never heard of this. Can I request this test on NHS? >>Doesn't effect girls though they can be XXY or XXX I don;t know anything about the features of them but you could google it. Distant memory I think they have more serious effect than XYY and you'd prooably know it by now if that were a problem. More than 1:850 boys are XYY 90 + % of them un-dx we only know because I had a amniocentesis with Sam, in fact all my boys as I didn;t start having babies till I was 36 but I got real good at it and had 3 in 2 years 3 months Mandi x
Guest guest
Thanks Mandi, its all very interesting. My daughter is big (weight and height) for her age. I've had a thyroid test done, but that came back ok. She hardly eats (self limits as our kids do) but yet is big. All my kids are tall for their age, but that runs in both sides of the family, but the weight thingy is a worry. Doctors say to put her on a diet, but how can I put her on a diet when she hardly eats anyway Mum231ASD@... wrote: In a message dated 02/06/2007 18:39:11 GMT Standard Time, alexbebeeyahoo (DOT) co.uk writes: What is 47XYY you mentioned something about being big. >>>Chromosome anomoly - extra Y - Sam has it - extra male - slow to walk, slwo to talk, loner, hairy, 'hard to rear' will turn outr a good 6cm over his expected height.
