Guest guest
I don't know if betagen will cause gas, but fiber and protein can. Although, normally, your body will get used to the higher protein in a few weeks and it won't be a problem anymore. A couple of other things that may be causing it are dairy and artificial sweetener. Even if you don't have a history of lactose intolerance, some people develop an intolerance to it as they age. I would suggest eliminating dairy from your diet for 2-3 days and if that isn't it, try eliminating artificial sweeteners for a couple of days. Or anything else you think might be causing it. If something in your diet is causing you to have gas, you'll know very soon after you eliminate it what it was. I had this problem a couple of years ago and it turns out I was becoming lactose intolerant. When I eliminated dairy, it was like a switch was flipped and I had zero problems with it after that. Guest guest
I had a similar problem and my solution was to cut back on my magnesium supplements. Although I'm not sure how common of a supplement this is. Just another suggestion to consider! > > > > What could be causing gas so bad that I can't be in a room with another > > human? Guest guest
I'm so glad you posted this! I had the same problem. Terrible gas the first 3 weeks of the program. It was so bad that if it continued I think I would have had to see a doctor. Then, for the last week and a half I haven't had it. It just went away. I'm assuming it was my body just adjusting to the high fiber and protein. > > > > > > What could be causing gas so bad that I can't be in a room with > another > > > human? The higher protein? Guest guest
I find that several of the bars will have that effect. Southbeach bars and myoplex lite bars...the ones with the little rice crispy things seem to have that effect. I recently started adding 3 doses a day of a metamucil type fiber supplement and it didnt seem to have that effect. Deanna gas? What could be causing gas so bad that I can't be in a room with another human? The higher protein? The increased fiber? Betagen? I'm in week 10 and it's only getting worse. I do drink a gallon of water per day.
Guest guest
I know that you've gotten a ton of responses and your head is spinning, but let me suggest this also: check for Malitol in anything you eat; it's used as a sugar sub and it gives me brutal gas. I can't even have it in chewing gum. The other thing is, one person did say on another board that Begagen gives her gas. So it seems that you may have to cut out one thing at a time to see what's bothering you. I did have gas when I started on a high fiber diet, but it resolved pretty quickly. Good luck : ) Best Regards, beth gas? What could be causing gas so bad that I can't be in a room with another human? The higher protein? The increased fiber? Betagen? Guest guest
Ditto on the Maltitol (sometimes just listed as " sugar alcohol " ). I had a massive gas attack after eating a new protein bar the other day, THEN I read the ingredients and found the culprit. Apparently, it's like beans; some people are bothered and some aren't, and some folks say they have built up a tolerance to it. Guest guest
I was reading a bodybuilding forum, and one guy is near contest condition (he's competing) and he said his family won't let him compete anymore as he is so gassy! Someone suggested he cut out all meal replacements/whey protein and that turned out to be his problem. Dairy causes that problem for me. Could you post a day's food of when you're having this problem? Maybe we can see possible causes. > What could be causing gas so bad that I can't be in a room with > another human?
