Hi & Welcome Back!

I haven't posted here in awhile, either. I have been reading the

posts, just not joining in- time factor mainly. BUT, something in

your post touched me and I want to reach out to you. YOU can do

this. It sounds like you know 'what' you need to do - exercise & eat

right. If you have the Body-for-LIFE book then you have a roadmap.

You've got this group, so you've got support and information. You've

know what you want in your life- health, children- so there should be

some motivation there. Seems like a good base to start from.

Please just make the decision to DO IT. Leave out the word 'try'-

there is no trying; there is only doing. I believe in you. Start

NOW! I'm living proof that BFL works; as are thousands of others.

YOU can do this. Make it your best!

Annie

Hi ,

Our daughter is trying to get pregnate with her 2nd child also. I

am kind of lost as to why you can not exercise. I know the approach

she is taking is to improve her diet by adding more healthy fruits

and vegetables, cutting way back on junk food, and making sure she

gets enough protein. She also started a moderate exercise program. I

think moderation is the key word when you want to get pregnate.

Strange as it seem she is into chinese medicine also something about

birth charts and predicting the baby sex by concieveing at a certain

time. I really don't understand all that part, but I know having 3

childern myself it was much easier for me to get pregnate when I was

fit and healthy. Not to mention how much easier pregancy is when you

in good shape. Maybe you could talk to your practicioner and find a

middle of the road approach you could both be happy with.I could see

how strenous exercise or restricting calories could make it harder

to get pregnate but I think a healthy diet which body for life

definetly is and a moderate exercise routine would help you achieve

you goal of another child.

Thanks, Annie, for such wonderful support!

You have many great points and I really appreciate everything you've posted.

Today I'm trying to get my ducks in a row so that I can get started either

tomorrow or

Tbursday. And you're right about the " trying " ! I just need to be " doing " .

I'm glad to be back on this board!

Thanks, again!

Hi,

Thanks for your response! Ya know, I really love this acupuncturist for some

many

reasons, but even in the beginning, when she was telling me to cut down on the

exercise I

was dubious. And even though I have kind of rebelled against most of western

medicine

much of the time (if someone in a regular doctors office had said this to me, I

would have

scoffed at the idea) there was a big part of my psyche that bought what she was

saying

because it was coming from an alternative physician. Now, perhaps her

perspective is true

for some people, but I haven't gotten pregnant yet and I'm in worse shape than I

was a

before I started BFL! What are the good results of that??? That's not what I

want from my

life. What if it's not in the cards for me to get pregnant again? Am I to

spend the next 2

years out of shape because it's true of Chinese medicine? I don't think so!

What's

interesting to me is that I STILL listen to what other people say (if they're a

professional of

some kind) over what my deep instinct tells me is true for me! That's a hard

pill to

swallow --- ya know?

In some circles of Chinese medicine, if a woman is older and is trying to

conceive, all of

her energy needs to be directed towards conception. But, ironically, since

following her

advice and slowing down (and almost stopping) all workouts, I have so little

energy it's just

unbelievable!!! That can't be right, either!!!

So, all this tells me that I still have a ways to go towards trusting my

instinct about my own

body! What a tough lesson -- I hope I got it this time. It seems like a pretty

important

one to get since I really need to trust my instincts when/if I go into labor

(especially since I

want to have the homebirth that I planned for my first this next time!).

Also, I wasn't working out so much that I wasn't having periods or anything like

that. I was

doing your normal BFL workouts with a few dance classes thrown in for good

measure. If

anything, I still had some bodyfat I had to loose -- if I remember correctly, I

was in the

mid-high 20s for my bf%. I was hitting a plateau and was thinking of

incorporating some

of Venuto's stuff into my plan. But, I certainly did not have low enough bf% to

effect

fertility. I don't think I've ever had that low of a bf%. And, now that I'm

(re-doing) my

research on fertility a la Taking Charge of Your Fertility, they point out that

too much fat

can have a negative effect on fertility!!! So, it's back to BFL for me!!!

Hope you can all stand me cause I'm coming back!!!

At any rate, thank you so much for your words of wisdom. It brings the issue

into such

clearer focus for me!

Thanks so much!
