Hi ,

Congratulations on the 100 pound loss! Of course you can lose weight while

eating bread. People only run into problems if they eat it (or any other

carb) in excess, like big portions of bread and pasta at every meal instead

of getting in your fruits and vegetables. A single piece of dark rye with

breakfast is no problem at all. I'm pretty sure there are hundreds if not

thousands of us here who can attest to losing weight and having successful

BFL challenges while still including bread. It's just a mater of quality and

portion control. Go for the high-fiber, whole grain varieties and try to

keep them to a meal or two a day.

Wow congrats on 100 pounds that is awesome! I eat bread, mini

whole wheat bagel (100 calories), wheat english muffins. My philosophy

is I've been doing this for 2 1/2 years and intend to do it for life and

I eat everything in moderation, being careful of portion control now and

mix it up. I'm not giving up anything at all not even the occasional

Milky Way <smile>.

Wow! Congrats, !

You have done wonderfully and I'm so glad that you are reaching out

because the support you will find here (and like groups) will help

you go the distance!

I'm so sorry to hear of your injuries, but it sounds like you're on

the right track. Is your DR or physical therapist helping you with

modifications?

As for the oatmeal, I think if it's something that is causing you to

fall, you should stay away from it. Oatmeal is good for you, but in

large amounts will not help you. It's all carbs. Maybe hold off until

after you reach your goal. A breakfast I enjoy is scrambled eggs (one

yolk), bell peppers, onions and a small red potato. (all mixed

together) That way you get veggies too. (just watch portion size)

Also, I am trying to not eat as much bread. In prior times, I would

eat only open faced sandwiches, so I only used one piece. I also used

Spelt bread. Something that my DR had recommended. I also eat from

time to time, whole wheat pita.

Let me say again that I think you are doing so well. I know it's hard

at times, but keep up the good work and before you know it you'll

have reached your goal!

If you¹ve been lurking for a while then I¹m sure you¹ve seen Skwigg¹s

diatribe on density of carbs. I¹m was stalled out and switched out all

bread, pasta etc. and replaced that carb with fruit. Action once again.
