Guest guest
Ah, coming out of lurk mode for this one! I don't use motivation much. I'm not motivated much to work professionally, run the household, even be a decent person...much! I'm just kind of a general sloth! But, what gets me to do the stuff I need to do: I don't think about why I should do something...I just do it. If I waited till I was motivated to work professionally, clean the house, call my mother as I should I would never do any of that stuff. I figure life has a certain amount of what I think of as " toothbrush activity " ..that old saying about making it like toothbrushing, you do it, you just don't think about it anymore. That's the way I view working out and eating healthfully (more often than not.) The more I try to motivate myself consciously to do something difficult, the longer I procrastinate and rationalize. If I just take the first 5 steps towards something (pack the gym bag, get the membership card out, get my a*s out the door, get to the gym, get to the weight room), then I do it without " motivation. " I like the adage: Attitude follows activity. Once I move, my attitude seems to follow.
Guest guest
I find the hype of starting something only lasts so long. Motivation is always present, however. I don't know if you can do something without being motivated. You brush your teeth because you know it will help your teeth. You clean your house because you know what will happen if you don't. Even if you aren't consciously thinking about it, I bet you really are motivated. You work out because either you enjoy it, you know it's good for you, or you're bored (I'm sure there could be other reasons as well). Even if you aren't enjoying yourself, I think you're still motivated. You're just not psyched about it Bonnie > > Ah, coming out of lurk mode for this one! > > I don't use motivation much.
