There is a store that has asked me if they could carry my perfumes, but

the name is a big turn off. I think it's somethink like Barfumeria. Of

course, that's the English language bias showing ;-)

I believe they carry a lot of niche perfumes. You may be able to google

them. I don't know of any perfumers in Barcelona except for a student of

mine, Lara - waving to Lara!

All my best,

Hi

This expression became part of the American lexicon, I believe, in the mid-

1980's owing to such iconic American films as " Clueless " and " Valley Girl " . It

translates literally into inserting a spoon into the mouth to the back of the

throat to induce vomiting. But, in casual day-to-day use, it refers

to something  that is extremely distasteful or repugnant. It is considered

archaic in today's language (because the 1980's are soooooooo over), but is

still occasionally used in a jesting or satirical fashion as we see here in the

example above.

Zappa's song Valley Girl in which his daughter, Moonunit, is

caught on tape talking like a Valley Girl, saying, " Like gross, you

know, like gag me with a spoon. " 1982

Yes, that is correct and that was what I had in mind when I put that down. In

that song she also says " Barf me out " which was another common Valley Girl

phrase. When I saw the name of theshop that wanted to carry Anya's perfumes;

Barfumeria, I couldn't help myself!

By the way, the 80's are back!!!! Totally!

Thank you very very much for this piece of US culture !!!!!!!

Zappa's song, I just discovered from now, is fantastic !!!!

I know, isn't it great?   It makes me laugh everytime I hear it!  AND brings

me back to 1982-totally!

I also wanted to add that the soundtrack to the movie Valley Girl, which was

re-released in the 90's with additional tracks, is incredible.  There are two

volumes and I love them both.  Zappa's song is not on either, but the movie was

inspired by that song.

Sorry for going so OT.
