Guest guest
Is anyone using any other brand, other than Nordic Naturals for VitaminA supplementation? I'm interested to know as I'd like to try Vit A, butthe Nordic Nat. has rosemary extract which is not ideal for us (becauseof epilepsy). It depends what you want the vitamin A for really - for example if you were doing the Megson protocol you would need to use CLO to get the Cis form of A. Apologies also for empty mails, I have a new no ball mouse and its doing things I don;t tell it too and real quick! Mandi x
Guest guest
, I use Carlson's lemon flavoured CLO. I don't know if there is rosemary in it though--it doesn't say on the bottle that there is. http://www.carlsonlabs.com/product_detail.phtml?prodid=00205 Anita > > > Hi, > > Is anyone using any other brand, other than Nordic Naturals for Vitamin > A supplementation? It has " 100% natural orange oil " , I don`t know if that indicates the same ingredient? We have a tremendous effect on our kid with Nordic nat. but of course we don`t have any problems with epilepsy Tor Helge
Guest guest
Thank you to Mandi, Anita, Mona and Joanne, for all the replies. Have had a look at all of them and I've finally decided to go for the Kirkman Cod Liver Oil but only after driving myself crazy with indecision. I find it really hard to decide on the brand of supplement, when there is so many choices around but suppose this is the case when starting out until you get to know what works for your child etc. Mona, the rosemary extract is mentioned in the ingredients on the Nordic Naturals website (unless the info on their has not been updated). Now I'm not a coward and not one to give up easily but this " marathon " is really hard work and I am only at the start but if it was not for this group and all the inspiration and the fighting power from all of the parents, I think I could crawl under a chair right now and throw the towel in (but I WILL NOT!!!). Did any of you find your kids getting worse in some respects at the start of biomed? Before biomed Norman used to get the odd runny nose and he'd recover quite quickly, now he is constantly ill and unable to get to school. Is there any explanation for this?? Is it anything to do with having an over active immune system before biomed and now that we are trying to heal the gut and supplementing, something is happening (sorry my biomed language and understanding of it, is terrible, but hope you can make out what I am going on about). Ok I will go now (not under the chair LOL!), but to try and work out how to clear the impaction we've just found out he has, and before you all think I'm such a miserable person.... has there been a full moon somewhere???! emily > > > > > > Hi, > > > > Is anyone using any other brand, other than Nordic Naturals for > Vitamin > > A supplementation? Some of our kids (and some of us moms too) are hyperimmune. That's not good. Your Norman may have switched to being hypoimmune. Finding a middle ground for our kids' immune systems is difficult work. There is some info on immune systems in the virus file that may be of some help to you. But, I do want to say that I wouldn't automatically rule out another reason for this problem. My very first post on one of these boards was a question about why my son seemed to be regressing again. I was told that it was quite normal for kids to go up and down. And it is, but it also isn't. I believe that my son's gut may have been receiving damage from his diet that I didn't understand. His adrenals, probably as a result of this damage, were falling apart. I think he was become more and more malnourished. A kid can go up and down, let's say if yeast gets bad, or you introduce a new supp that he doesn't tolerate, but my son kept losing hard earned gains over and over. We are still not anywhere near where we were 3 months after his regression, when we had some wonderful progress with GFCF. So, after more than two years and many, many interventions, my son still isn't close to where he was after only one intervention. I don't want to scare you (under a chair ;-)) but I also don't want people to believe what I did, that regression was kind of the norm. It can be in certain situations for certain limited periods of time. But if it goes beyond these limited constraints, something foundational needs addressing. Of course, figuring out what that foundational thing is can be difficult. I think the best course of action there is to flood the boards with questions. I hope this helps, rather than hinders. Guest guest
Hi Anita, Your reply is really appreciated, and I think I understand what you are saying so I will have to sleuth some more, and now that we have had results back for his amino acids, urine organic, porphrins (which does not look good), pterine tests, we are waiting to see Lorene at ATT sometime soon (once daughter's SATs are out of the way) to get an understanding and feel of what we need to address. We may then hopefully have a clearer picture of what is going on. I definitely don't think he has regressed in terms of skills but more in terms of health (it's like a switch has been turned on). I am comforted though that despite him coming down with one thing after another, he is making slow and steady progress, he is not shuffling his feet when he walks as he used to before and is in more control of his body, he has began to look where he is going rather than just looking to the ground. His awareness and response to people around him is improving (although he continues to be completely mute and has not made any step to communicating in any other ways but continues with limited body gestures). This has to be positive, so shouldn't really moan, I guess. Thanks again, you have been really helpful. emily > > > > > Did any of you find your kids getting worse in some respects at the > > start of biomed? This is the kind of progress that you want to see. Imagine when you get his immune system working and Norman feels healthier :-) We have seen very good things here with Epicor for the immune system (in DH who had no immune system to speak of) and I know lots of people really like Transfer Factor. Best wishes, Anita
