Guest guest
If you think of BFL as something ongoing and not something that you go on and off like a diet, you will feel better about it psychologically and don't have to accept the first time as a failure, only your own deviation from its principles. Give BFL at least 150 days, which is longer than twelve weeks. Science has proven that everything practiced 150 times automatically becomes a habit or close enough to one. Once BFL is a habit you barely have to think about it and you've got it made. From there you can hone in on the more subtle changes in your body and basically take it as far as you wish to go. Don't quit just because you lose 50 pounds or whatever and think it's over. Maintenance is just as demanding as the losing weight part of BFL. Every bit as. I've been in maintenance(yet doing intentional muscle growth efforts) for about 5 years now, and since it is already a habit it's like, this is life. I wouldn't dream of eating once a day for forty minutes a sitting nor would I dream of drinking full sugar drinks of any kind or eating any carbohydrate outside the presence of protein. I don't even miss all that decadent stuff I used to cram any more. I love a really e exquisite small piece of chocolate about once a day, a piece of Dove or Godiva chocolate won't do any harm and it gives me boatloads of satisfaction so that I don't go running off to french fry heaven or something. Hang in there and do this forever. It is fun because of the positive feedback you will get from doing it right. Positive feedback always produces motivation to continue, even challenge yourself. Sorry for all that rant, but I've been in this for seven years and am still one of BFL's biggest fans. Have a good day y'all. Stasia
Guest guest
Stasia How motivating! You are so very very right. I " m so into this now, not because of BFL but the program I was following prior to this, my body knows when it's been 3 hours and needs to eat again, even if I ate wrong at the previous meal! I actually look FORWARD to working out - I'll tell ya, 2 years ago that would never of happened, I hated working out. It took time, and for someone who is not already mind set to follow a program, and change their LIFE - this may not work the first time around. Some times it takes trying, and then trying something else to realize this IS the way of life, this IS what you are supposed to do. I don't feel like a failure, even though I'm not " loosing weight " I can already see changes in the mirror, I feel better, I'm not as stressed, the shorter work outs are really helping my stress level, life feels good again! I do believe this is my way of life now, and even after loosing weight and toning, you can't just STOP - it all comes back, sometimes faster!! Sort of like a car, you run it every day and then leave it parked for a year - it's not gonna run the same way it did!!! It will be dried up, rusty! If you let your body go for a year, it gets soggy and weak! You go girl!!! Guest guest
Hey Gang, I'm entering my 8th week of BFL and this was a really bad weekend. I ate everything under the sun. I am a bit disappointed because being in the program for 7 weeks exercising 5-6 times a week and eating by the book I really haven't seen a drastic change. I have seen some improvements here and there but no where near what these other BFLifers looks like at the end of 12 weeks. It has taken me 7 weeks to lose 4 pounds. I have lost inches around my waist and abs but nothing that I really can get too excited about. I am 5'6 " and weigh now 126 pounds. I have gained lots of muscle strength. I just need for someone to tell me that has been in this program for 12 weeks that I can too look like those BFL challengers. I really never ate bad and now my calorie intake is less than 1500-1800 calories a day. On my free day I do eat lots of sweets since that is what I crave. I don't want to lose hope but this weekend was really tough to stick with the program. Looking for some word of wisdom, JC -------------- Original message -------------- Hello Ladies, This will be round 2 for me, unfortunately round 1 was about 5 years ago but it was the last time that I was able to stick to a routine and really saw the benefits. I have seen the error in my ways with yo-yo dieting and ready to make BFL a lifestyle change, I have gotten my boyfriend on board also, which will make it much easier. I am on day 4 and feeling great, still sore from Monday's workout! I know during my first round I was part of a yahoo group and the support was amazing and was kept me going, hopefully it will be the same this time! Good luck, hot_tamale59@... Guest guest
I know what you mean! I am on week 7 too. I just took pictures and there is very small changes. I have also been very strict on my diet throughout the week and workout 6 times a week, even doing some, not a ton, of extra cardio. It is discouraging, but everyone keeps saying weeks 8-12 are when you see the results, so I am holding out for that. I am also working on looking at this as a lifetime change, body for LIFE, and not a diet to where I will go off and binge, like I usually do. So I am really HOPING some results start showing up! I am throwing the scale away though, cause it's just way too depressing to watch that. My friend and I are doing this together and keep thinking there is no way we are going to have the transformations that are in the book or on the website. But someone told us yesterday to throw the scale away and stop comparing ourselves to the people in the book. So we are going to try to focus on the positive I guess...and hope for the best! Guest guest
JC, My first question is, have you taken pictures?...If not, you need to do this to really see the changes. Also, at 5'6 " and 126, I would think you are not going to see a huge decrease in bodyweight since you are already at a reasonable weight for your height. Considering that doing BFL vs. say weight watchers, you will be adding muscle while losing fat. When you achieve the body you want, your weight may not match what is on some height/weight chart because of all the muscle. You may even gain weight while dropping sizes. (That happened to me on my first round.) Consider Brant for example. She is 5'4 " and during the off season, maintains at about 135 lbs. http://www.monicabrant.com/about/stats.php Finally, forget last weekend. Thats history. Its what you do today, tomorrow and the days after that matter now. And if you havent done so....take the pictures! Guest guest
HEy girls, Dont get discouraged. If you have lost any inches or lbs at all that is great. Some women I have read about didn't see any results for 7-9 weeks and then they sarted to transform. If you weren't doing BFL you probably would be gaining weight right?. The point is to gain new habits of eating healthy and exercising on a regular basis. This is my first BFL challenge. I am starting my 6th week today. I studied and read BFL book 5 times and researched tons of people online who have done this. I also researched tons of other weightloss diets, fads, etc. BFL is for life, not just some diet you go on to lose some weight and then find it all creep back on after your off it for a year. Thats why I chose to go with BFL because I have been on weight watchers for more than a yr , gone to Curves an been on their diet plan, done the slim fast thing, and other " stuff " to lose weight. MOst of these programs help me lose scale weight, but I only lost one or 2 sizes. I was starving all the time with them and had no energy to keep up with my 4 kids. My youngest will be 4 in April and I have been struggling since he was born to get back to my pre 4 babies weight! Since sarting BFL on Jan 21,2007 I have had energy out the roof. I have NEVER been hungry, because if I get hungry it usually means its time to eat again! I drink 10c to 1/2 gal of water a day because I am thirsty from the workouts. The workouts are NOT time consuming, but make me feel great afterward. I always push to reach the 10 and YES its HARD work. If you dont understand what that is read Bills book. I think it is one of the most important things in the workouts. Working out harder NOT longer is better! In my first 4 weeks I recorded calories to make sure I had a deficit. I eat from 1300 to 1600 calories/day.The portions since then have stuck so I dont count have anymore. I plan all my meals on Sunday.I fed my family of 6 pretty much the same thing I eat. My kids know they can't make cookies until " free day " . All of my family and friends know what I am doing. I got Bills success journal and record every meal, workout, goal ,and thought. All of this might look like I am doing alot, but its not really once I got used to it after a couple weeks. My 12 week goals: In 12 weeks I will Lose 20 lbs scale weight In 12 weeks I wil Lose 10 inches off my waist In 12 weeks I will Gain strength and energy In 12 weks I will Learn to prepare 15 new BFL meals and snacks In 12 weeks I will give up Smoking LOOK AT MY STATS TODAY: I am 5'4 " and 28 yrs old Staring weight 170 lbs Today 160lbs -10 lbs Starting waist 41 inch Today 36 1/2 inch -4 1/2 inches Gained both Energy and strength in the first few weeks My favs are chicken pita pizza, spanish omelet, and Carribean Chicken Salad. Still working on the smoking thing I had a really bad 5th week. My Dad who I care for was hiding a serious infection on his leg from me. He is 76 and diebetic plus conjestive heart failure. He became what the Doctors call septic. Got staph in hi s system and On the tuesday of that week I was in the ER with him being asked about a living will. Anyway he almos went from us and I spent 5 days at the hopital almost the whole time. He is recovering now and getting well. Well my eating wasn't oo reat. I was able to find Cottage Cheese at the cafetrria and fruit, some salads and sandwiches. I missed alot of meals though and ate reallt bad 3 night in a row because I was starving I way over did it. I improvised on th workouts.. Its amazing what you can do on the floor and some stairs without any weights at all.So I got all my workouts in which helped me deal with the stress. That was also the week I planned on giving up smoking, but yeah right I think I doubled that(bad bad). WOW! This is getting really long huh! Anyway girls. Dont give up. If you quit then what is your plan. It probably took years to get your body in the shape its in right now, so dont expect it to change so rapidly. Go for it! be a winner to yourself. If you stick with BFL for 12 weeks do you think it will be a waste of time? eEvaluate what you are doing/eating/drinking everyday maybe record calories and strive for a deficit, and see what you can do to make improvements, and then do them. OMG now I am sounding like my Dad LOL. I gotta pick up my kids or this may go on foreverrrrrrrrrr!! TTYL, Dawn C in Idaho
Guest guest
Hi Deanna, thanks for you input. I did take pictures before the challenge and took pictures at the end of my 6th week. I did see some improvements, but I wasn't thrilled. I definitely have gotten stronger, I guess I need to be a bit more patient and not give up. Thanks again for responding. Guest guest
Hi Dawn, I am currently in week 1 of giving up the dreaded ciggies. I went away for the weekend, ate badly drank a lot and smoked a lot. I am also in week 8 of the BFL, I have to admit I have been brilliant up to this weekend, it was a blow out though, not too much damage done. The smoking thing is really hard, I'm doing it cold turkey, me and my boyfriend, so we are a barrel of laughs at the moment. Please let me know when (I say when and not if) you give up, we could help each other through. At the moment I don't know whether to laugh, cry or kick the s**t out of something. Great for workouts though, gets the aggression going, then I'm too tired to be bothered!! :-) Gemma Re: BFL Take Two HEy girls, Dont get discouraged.
