Guest guest
Ohhh yes, sometimes I can't swallow the water! Eat slowly, chew well, and drink a lot of water with your meal is the best advice. Dan at HNPP group has a terrible problem with this and frequently chokes. I'm pretty good but have to be quite careful. Guest guest
Hi Jen, Yes, the first time I had the swallowing problem was about 3 years ago and had to literally drink water to help me to swallow. I didnt' happen again for awhile, and I thought it was the medicine I was one, but in the last year it's happened again more often. Take care,
Guest guest
Hi, I must say I feel " better " now that I know I'm not the only one! Yes, I have swallowing problems too, I choke on food quite often - even if I drink! Seems slow and carefull eating can help - but what an effort to think about it all the time! Guest guest
Since we're kind of on this subject, I am not necessarily having problems swallowing, but have a feeling of a lump in my throat. I've had this for about a month or so. It seems to come and go.. I'm going to see the doctor on Thursday. Has any one else had this problem? Could it be CMT? After doing research on the web, I'm think it may be related to acid reflux.
Guest guest
Hello, Eating slowly and paying attention is advisable. I always have water on hand, and find I choke on some spices, as they can close my throat, as does pollen Its major pollen here in Beaufort SC. and I stay indoors most of the time. Blessings, Katharine
Guest guest
Jen, Do you have acid reflux (GERD)? I had this similar problem and what was happening is my GERD was causing significant damage to my lower esophagus and therefore my body was compensating by restricting the upper GI. I had ulcers in my esophagus and required an Endoscopy with dialation to help me. So I would strongly see a doctor and have tests done (not necessarily pleasant, but they can test your strength for the two muscles and see if there is a problem. Guest guest
YES!!!!! I so glad that someone else knows what I'm talking about. swallowing problems Hi everyone, I have noticed recently that I have trouble swallowing when I eat. The food seems to just get stuck half way down. I have to drink water to get it down. Has anyone else experienced this? I do it at least twice a week. Guest guest
, The " lump in the throat " is what happened to me before I went on reflux meds. I also have trouble swallowing somtimes. It's almost like, for a moment, that my throat forgot how to swallow. So far it ends up remembering. Guest guest
, Yes, some people do experience swallowing difficulties. As for progression, we are all different due to our unique genetic code and the way CMT presents in our lives.
