Hello Patty,

Yes, I buy tall socks from Dr. Leonard's catalog and trim off a bit of

Velcro from the top strap on the AFO. Then I double the top of the sock

over the Velcro strap and it sticks to the exposed loop side of the

Velcro. Even better, I get a small piece of " industrial strength " Velcro

loop sticky back and position it just under the lip of the AFO at the

back. This keeps the sock up very well all day.

Hi Patty,

Has your Dad tried AFO socks? They are seamless and

are longer so you can fold them down over the top of

the brace. When I was wearing braces that was the

only thing that I tried that would stay up and they

were comfortable.

Hope Everyone Had A Great Day,

:>

You could have them cut down a 1/2 " or an 1 " and pull them up and over the

brace. Just a thought.

I wish I could help, I have a hard enough time putting on my shoes to even

think about socks.

Keeping Socks Up

Hi-

My Dad has CMT and has a problem keeping his socks up. He likes to wear

over-the-calf gym socks underneath his braces, and he's been using a product

called " It Stays! " It does work, but it's starting to

irritate him because it's so sticky. Does anyone have any suggestions

for something they use to keep their socks to stay put under the braces?

Thanks

Patty

Hi there:

Like 's son, mine wears long socks and folds them over the top...we can

really tell he's grown when there is nothing to fold over.

Cheers

Hi All,

I am Owen. I have been in AFOs for 28 years. I am not tall 5'-6 " my

legs are short so my solution may not help taller people. I wear calf length

socks. After I put the AFOs on I pull the top of the socks over the top of the

AFO and down over the AFO about 1 " or 2 " . The socks will not slide down. An

added benefit is if the strap on the AFO breaks, it is not impossible to walk. I

have experienced this. It a short fix enough to get home.

The socks I use white cotton and have a terry cloth interior in the sole area.

Not fashionable but comfy in all seasons.

Happy Trails

Owen
