Guest guest
<<What time do all of you wake up for workouts, and go to bed to make sure you get up in the morning?>> I get up at 4:30am to go to the gym. I go to bed around 10 but usually don't fall asleep until closer to midnight. I have 6 kids and usually at least 1 or two get up during the night so not much sleeping going on at our house. Guest guest
I'm trying to get to bed by 10pm every night - even if I lay there and read for an hour or so, I want to be IN BED by 10 each night. I have never been a morning workout person, but I'm trying to incorporate a little morning workout since I have no excuse anymore (my son got his license last year so I don't have to drive kids to school anymore!). I did 10 minutes on my mini-stepper this morning and wall push-ups. Better than nothing, right? I do an hour to hour-and-a-half at night after work - 3-6 times a week depending on how busy I am. Guest guest
With two kids, a dog and a cat, I barely get a good night's sleep as it is. I'm a stay-at-home mom, so I just do my workout after the kids are off to school. ~Tracey
Guest guest
The hubby and I go to bed between 9 and 9:30. We get up between 5 and 6. What I do make sure of is that sleep comes first, because with my schedule, if I can't haul my butt out of bed at 5 because I'm exhausted, I can work out at lunch, or after work. Its really important to make sure you get enough sleep when you are working out hard. I need a lot of sleep anyway, so I need a WHOLE lot when I'm working out intensely. Guest guest
Wow I feel awful. I'm lucky to get to bed by midnight and I'm up by 8 a.m. My workouts are usually after my husband gets home from work in the evenings at 6 p.m. > > I'm trying to get to bed by 10pm every night - even if I lay there and > read for an hour or so, I want to be IN BED by 10 each night. Guest guest
I don't wake up early to work out. Since I have to get my son to school, then to work, I go to the gym to work out in the afternoon/evening after work. Getting to bed at a reasonable hour is hard for me, but I've been aiming for 10pm, since I have to be out of bed by 7am. Any earlier, and my body would revolt! K. Guest guest
i hate morning workouts and therefore don't do them. i get up at 6:20 and crash at 10 or 11. cardio is at 1:00 pm while my kids are sleeping and the gym is at four when the daycare opens up. it works for me. my very determined and insane husband gets up at 4:20 to be at the gym by 5. then he falls asleep on the floor playing with kids in the evenings. ;-) Tara K > > What time do all of you wake up for workouts, and go to bed to make > sure you get up in the morning? >
Guest guest
Kim, the older I get the more sleep I seem to need. I used to stay up half the night, get up early, and now realize how exhausted I was and didn't even know it! There's also new studies linking lack of sleep to weight gain - more incentive to get some extra zzzzzz's! Re: Wake up and Bedtime Hours Wow I feel awful. Guest guest
I work evenings, so most of the time I go to sleep at 1:00am and wake up at 7:00am. It's fairly retarded but I've been doing it for years. I do have the luxury of a post-workout nap though. So, I'll come home from the gym, drink a recovery shake and go back to bed for up to an hour or two if I'm feeling sleepy. On my days off I usually get to bed earlier. Then I might get 8 hours in a row plus a nap. Guest guest
when my daughter was younger I got in the habit of working out in the morning. It was the only time I could fit it in and the habit stuck. I'm usually in bed by 10:30, asleep by 11:00, and up between 5:00-5:30 on weekdays. I've been trying to get to bed sooner, but it just doesn't happen. > > What time do all of you wake up for workouts, and go to bed to make > sure you get up in the morning? >

Guest guest
I really struggle with this. 4 days a week I work 12+ hours and don't get home until 8 or 8:30, but I just cannot force myself to work out at 6AM. I know it really is my choice, but so far I have chosen to get up only long enough to reset the alarm. I work out earlier on the weekends, but am still working out at night on the weekdays. I know it is not as effective, but I guess it's better than nothing. Last night I did my HIIT on the heavy bag at about 8:00 and really slept well. I believe that some people's biological clocks are set for later hours (like mine). If anyone knows how to effectively alter this, I would be interested in knowing. Guest guest
During the school year it's a no brainer. My kids' first period begins at 7:40am so I'm in the gym by 7:30, right after I drop them off. In the summer and for school breaks it is more tricky. I must be working out by 5am at the latest in order to get showered, etc. before anyone else in the family wakes up and has the chance to sabotage my workout efforts. Stuff always comes up though, and I miss workouts. I eat clean 95% of the time so the missed workouts don't matter. Sometimes all I can do is a really intense afterburn type circuit of all bodyparts spread over two days, with cardio on the same day. No harm done there. BFL has been sometimes a two steps forward, one step backward thing for me. All in all, it has been more progress than failure because the mirror can vouch for that. I cannot tell people often enough how important it is to give BFL plenty of time to work its magic. Guest guest
I've been trying to keep these hours as well. It's just so hard to get up that early if you have to travel outside the home. Do the two of you workout at home? > > > > What time do all of you wake up for workouts, and go to bed to make > > sure you get up in the morning? > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Yes it's definitely much easier to workout during those times. The only problem is that my gym is crowded during those hours with SAHM, people on lunch, ect. The only guaranteed way to have less activity in the gym is to wake up early. I've also read your burn more fat with early morn workouts. Not sure how true that is though. --- In bodyforlifewomensclub2 , " Tara " wrote: > > i hate morning workouts and therefore don't do them. > i get up at 6:20 and crash at 10 or 11. > cardio is at 1:00 pm while my kids are sleeping and the gym is at four > when the daycare opens up. it works for me. > my very determined and insane husband gets up at 4:20 to be at the gym > by 5. then he falls asleep on the floor playing with kids in the > evenings. ;-) > > Tara K > > > > > > > What time do all of you wake up for workouts, and go to bed to make > > sure you get up in the morning? > > >
Guest guest
4:30 am with 6 kids??? Ok that's it! I have no excuse. Guest guest
Actually we don't. We go to the gym at the Naval Base where I work, its about 10 minutes from the house. I think it helps too that we live in Florida, so its not all cold and snowy outside in the morning. If it snowed here....I think I would have to workout at home! LOL. Guest guest
That's the problem I have here. It is FREEZING that early in the morning, and it takes a real commitment to crawl out the bed, and feel that cold air before I'm fully awake. lol > > > > > > > > What time do all of you wake up for workouts, and go to bed to > > make > > > > sure you get up in the morning? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I hate to sound like a jerk, but I get up to do my workout because it's just what I have to do. There is no other option. It was really hard last week, 'cause I was having problems sleeping, but for me it's just what has to be done, period. I will admit that I sometimes convince myself by planning a nap later in the day. Best Regards, beth Re: Wake up and Bedtime Hours I just read all the replies by everyone. Guest guest
Working together, setting goals and rewards.either on a calendar or on your refrigerator, this is how we stayed motivated. Every week (after our weight and tape) we set a goal/reward for the following week. Small things, things that help us stay motivated; even if it is just something that we want to do, a wine tasting, a concert, a new restaurant. This week we decided that on week four we would pull out our favorite pair of jeans that didn't fit when we started. We get up in and make sure we eat right and work out in order to obtain those goals. Due to a medical condition, I am currently not working; however I get up in the morning to help my friend achieve her goals. She helps me with eating habits and we keep each other focused. Sam Until we can shake of f the shackles of hatred and intolerance, our own ignorance will continue to blind us. _____ From: bodyforlifewomensclub2 [mailto:bodyforlifewomensclub2 ] On Behalf Of missmimi2007 Sent: Tuesday, January 16, 2007 9:50 AM To: bodyforlifewomensclub2 Subject: Re: Wake up and Bedtime Hours I just read all the replies by everyone.
