OT Re: more discussion about clear perfumes--Now ..

For example, Bob Dylan, although revolutionary, was also popular for a time and

he wrote, how many decades ago?? Jerry Lee is one of the founders of rock

as far as I'm concerned and still very worthy of being listened to, and then

there is Bruce Springsteen. All very much a part of popular white music.

Not picking a fight here, but this opinion implies that , Dylan, and

Springsteen's music ever was or is worth listening to. Personally, I have never

found such to be the case. My exclusion was quite specific, " all white popular

american music " ... ahh, but this is now quite far off topic...

But just as most Americans think that Bali is a country, instead of an island in

the country of Indonesia, (I know that I once did not know any different...) The

American myopic mindset has only accepted that which originates from its own

culture. I once went to a party, and the discussion became music. I mentioned

that my favorite music was Brazilian. The group wanted to know who it was that

I liked, because they thought themselves knowledgeable about all music.

I rattled off about ten to fifteen names of Brazilian recording artists, and was

promptly told that I was lying to impress them and was making up all of these

names. I was amazed at the arrogance of these people...Just because they were

unaware of these artists, I was a liar.

Art Music can be great. It can also be monotone and lacking in passion. I think

the point is to recognize the complexity and variety in all genres, and not

throw the baby out with the bathwather.

Oh sure, I would agree, but in my opinion, current American Popular music in

all it's forms, is old and tired, and not worth my time and energy, even trying

to find that which may be worthy of not being dismissed out of hand. Why should

I work that hard trying to cull the wheat from the massive amount of chaff. I

just go somewhere else, and save all of that angst and save my guard from being

exercised constantly in terms of trying to find redeeming qualities where there

are so little to be found. After all of this prattle of mine here, I probably

deserve to have my message deleted, And I apologize for stating such abstruse,

obtuse, opinionated, and offtopic comments.
