Germaben II or Vitamin E are good preservatives.

I use either when I make sugar scrubs, mostly for my own use.

Coffee Scrub Recipes

Does anyone have any good recipes for a coffee sugar scrub to

formulate for spa use? Are used grounds used? I would think the

moisture would promote bacteria growth. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi ,

I haven't made any of these so I'm not sure but I think that if you use

fresh ground coffee grounds you may have more success than used ones as I

imagine that the used grounds would perhaps become too soft after being

soaked in the other ingredients. Very possibly I'm wrong in this. Perhaps

using a preservative with vitamin E would help with the bacteria and fungus.

Thanks Sue,

Most of the recipes I have found online call for used coffee grounds. I'm going

to use

fresh ground.

One of the supposed benefits of using coffee is that the caffeine is

supposed to reduce cellulite. The used grounds would have much less

caffeine in them than fresh ones.
