Guest guest
I really want to start a challenge to get rid of this baby weight. I completed an challenge in 2001 and continued to life the lifestyle for a few more years. Then slowly snowballed into my old habits. Add a baby to the mix and my body is a mess. I am still breastfeeding and I worry how the nutrition aspect will affect my supply. Last month, I ate BFL style for a week (adding a few more carbs for the baby) and my milk supply suffered greatly. Have any of you done BFL while breastfeeding? What nutritional guidelines did you follow? Thanks. Tiffiny
Guest guest
Check out the group Body for Life Mommies: http://groups.msn.com/BodyforLifeMommies You'll find lots of support and info there. From their FAQ: ~~ Q: Do I need to eat more if I am still breastfeeding and doing BFL? A. Yes you need to be eating more. And you need to be eating more carbs. Lots more cals burned with bfeeding so you need to be taking more in. Your body thinks its starving, thats why you are so hungry. I would suggest adding an extra carb to 2-3 meals a day. Breastfeeding moms burn about 500 calories from breastfeeding and on cardio days, its around another 250 calories. So that is 750 calories burned every other day! That is a lot so your body HAS to take in more cals and nutrients to make milk. ~~ If you're looking at any of the calorie formulas and ratios, you would be doing the one for muscle gain. That's 50% carbs, 30% protein, 20% fat and anywhere from 12-17 times your body weight in calories per day. In the book, he has you nearing that formula just by adding double carb portions to the first three meals of the day. You may also need to make the rest of your portions a little bit bigger.
