Guest guest
Hmmm, I question this. The best sources of vitamin-C (citrus fruits, berries, etc) are also full of sugar. Guest guest
Thanks Kim for this interesting study. I am a nursing student as well as a sugar junky. I think after reading this I am going to really, really work on cutting out sugar. Thanks for informing us! Guest guest
SUGARS: I am currently limiting my simple sugar intake to 10% of my total carbs from all sources -- milk products, veggies (e.g. carrots), potatoes, oatmeal (just the grain itself has 2g), beans, potatoes, fruit. ON DIABETES: My husband is diabetic -- and since he has been tracking his food (to include limiting sugars) on the Personal Food Analyst (PFA), his meds have had to be adjusted (eliminated one totally) and we hope to significantly reduce them as the weight loss progresses. (This is the only nutrition software I've used -- I imagine there are other programs that would give you the values as well.) VITAMIN C: If you're interested in getting Vitamin C from natural sources, you can get over the minimum requirement naturally from foods. VIT C SOURCES: Here's where I get most of my Vitamin C: Compare these to orange sections (1 cup) at 95mg Vitamin C. Not exactly mega doses, but combined with a vitamin supplement . . . and meal replacements, I can get over 300% the daily requirement fairly easily. Broccoli - 1c steamed = 123mg vit C Oatmeal (Quaker Oats Old fashioned)= 82 mg Vit C Potato (300g) has 38mg Vit C The above values are from foods in that PFA nutrition database...
