Guest guest
Hi Colette We had plasma done as well as urine and they didn't tally. In our case incredibly high glutamate excretion on AA test but normal in plasma. This doesn't help you as we don't yet have the answer to the question - i.e. we're still investigating whether the plasma test " hides " some deficiencies as the over all amino acids level is " normal " but that could contain peaks and troughs. (Test done on NHS) Are you doing this through a doctor or on your own? Steph > > My son Philip (age 13) recently had urine amino acid testing done > through IWDL. Guest guest
Apparently goji berries contain every single one of the amino acids we require. Trouble is, they don't taste terribly nice! However, these tibetans seem to thrive........ I have bought goji juice, which is blended with a few other 'good' organic juices, and tastes lovely. gets it very dilutes, and now he is beginning to like it, I am beginning to wonder if its really that okay?! Have just called the makers today to ask just what 'natural flavours' are added. Girl did not know, but someone else had also just asked, so she is looking into it. Guest guest
They taste better if you plump them up in some juice. Not great, just better. > > Apparently goji berries contain every single one of the amino acids we require. Trouble is, they don't taste terribly nice! Guest guest
Thanks for the info Steph We're consulting with Tommey. We're off to see our GP tomorrow to find out if we can get blood amino acid testing through the NHS. Guest guest
--- Colette, We have just done the same for our 11 yr old and again low in most aa. we have been recommended betainHCl/pepsin and the customised aa by the dan practitioner.we have only been supplementing for a week ,so can't say anything yet but according to my big sis ,a doctorate biochemist, explaining it to me(and to my extremely cynical husband) in simple terms, said that getting this right would kickstart/help a lot of the other reactions in his body HTH ,Nina In Autism-Biomedical-Europe , " Andy Pullen " wrote: > > Thanks for the info Steph > > We're consulting with Tommey. Guest guest
I don't know your GP (unsurprisingly) but I have found informed, confident but a bit humble is a good approach with NHS i.e. " other parents are accessing this test and we do think it might show us something interesting and possibly divert us from an unnecessary course of treatment " type of thing. Wink! Although that said going right back through all Tom's test - they did a plasma amino acids on him in 2001 just after diagnosis off their own bats. So perhaps not so controversial with autism. > > > > > > My son Philip (age 13) recently had urine amino acid testing done > > > through IWDL. Guest guest
Hi Colette, We have had 2 urine amino acid tests done for Eddie (and are waiting for the results of a 3rd). The first results were really awful and the 2nd were what you might call poor - so a really good improvement. I don't think it was just the amino supplementation that helped increase his amino levels - we did a lot of things to fight bad bacteria and help heal his intestines (we still have to work really hard on this.) The 2nd test was done after 48hrs without amino supplementation - so we were pretty pleased to see he must be doing better at getting aminos from his food. I should mention that we did have to work just a bit harder at fighting yeast etc after we introduced the custom aminos - but overall we saw good improvements so kept it up. Would be happy to email the 1st and 2nd results if you'd like to see. I think IWDL now offer a different set of tests but I'd guess they were still similar. Best wishes, Sandy > > My son Philip (age 13) recently had urine amino acid testing done > through IWDL. Guest guest
Hi We are having trouble with Joe since introducing the custom aminos about 4 weeks ago, I think his gut bugs have got worse, he is on yeast aid and origanol oil for them, but has got much more sensitive and hyper and stimming more than he was, bit like before we treated gut bugs but not quite so bad. Any advice appreciated, how do you know if its yeast not gut bugs? He hasn't ever suffered with yeast but would like to know just in case! Thanks Jane
