We get up one day and say to ourselves, " Today I am going to eat healthy, exercise regularly, stop drinking, stop smoking, stop running up the credit cards, stop screaming, feed my family only the healthiest cuisines, keep the house clean and organized, work -at home or out of the home, find a passion, etc., etc., etc. Fortunately or unfortunately the list can go on and on. And we may sustain this " instant balance " for a bit but generally not for very long. Why? Because rarely do things happen instantly. If that were the case, none of us would be BFLers. We would be " instantly " fit. Although most of us would have to become instantly fit over and over again because instantaneous leaves out the process. Without the process we learn nothing. Regardless of where we are on the challenge, I bet we have all learned so much: that we're smart, strong, funny, creative, steadfast, and on and on and on. Achieving balance is a process. I think there are two keys to achieving balance. 1) Take it slow. Focus on one goal at a time. Right now, my goal is completing this challenge as best I can. The kids can have one or two processed meals, the hubby has to get up with my baby girl if I'm working out. I'm focused on me right now. By my 6th or 8th week, I'll start to focus on something else. Think about it. When people balance books on their heads, they add one at a time. They only add another when they are sure they have the previous one balanced. 2) Honor the process Losing weight is going to or has taken all of us a minimum of 12 weeks. Let's embrace it. What are we learning about ourselves and others, positive or negative? How have we been shortchanging ourselves? Find the authentic you and introduce yourself..lol...ok, I'm sounding like Oprah but you get my point. Achieve one and then add one.... Good luck to you, Phoenix. I'm rooting for you! Kim .
