Guest guest
Hi We are off to Florida in 2 weeks on an intensive Growing Minds course and was wondering if anyone has advice on the following matters: How do I pack 18 different supplements? I was thinking of buying some kind of large pill dispenser/holder and was wondering if anyone has bought one or used one? I have looked on the internet and there is a huge range - not sure where to start. I don't fancy taking 18 supplement bottles. What about customs - if they found all these supplements - wouldn't it look strange - do you notify someone before hand to explain? Lastly how to pack the MB12? What have other people done when they have travelled as I need to keep it cool? Any advice would really be appreciated. Thanks Nicola
Guest guest
Hi Nicola Very jealous you are off to see the GM team, I'm convinced a week with them would help enormously. As for the supplements you could get a letter from Dr H explaining why you need the supplements, You could pre measure out but customs may prefer to see the labels so they have an idea of what is in there. As for the MB12 not sure really, we travelled to europe with supplements in a small lunch box (insulated) with a cool pack but the long journey may require more chilling. Could you order some to be delivered to Growing Minds who I'm sure would refrigerate for you? I know some airlines are still restricting the carrying of liquids on board so putting stuff in the hold would be reasonable. Sorry not too helpful just thinking aloud really. Guest guest
Hi Nicola Fantastic you are off to Growing Minds so soon, can't wait to hear how you all get on. When we went to son rise last June we took a letter from Dr H explaining about the supplements we were carrying, including MB12. It wasn't needed but it was good to have it anyway. I don't know about you but I can recognise most of Joe's supplements by appearance anyway so I just counted out enough for the length of our stay, plus 2 days extra just in case, and tipped them all into one bottle, then separated them out every day. I guess you could keep those that look alike in separate envelopes to be on the safe side. With the MB12 it didnt need refridgerating when we went, it might be worth checking how crucial this is, I think Mandi said before that Dr Neubrander says it doesnt need refridgerating anyways. I think I would pack it in dry ice, inside a freezer bag, and hope for the best but not sure that is sound advice!! Have a wonderful time love
Guest guest
You could pre measure out but customs may prefer to see the labels so they have an idea of what is in there. Nicola, Several years ago I had a problem one time traveling into the US with a load of supplements in a 7 day thingy - they were in my purse. I also had a few prescription tablets in there too. They made me go into a separate room and explain what each and every tablet was for and then they searched my carry on luggage for more tablets. ly I think they were just being arses for whatever reason and they let me through without any problem but they told me the next time to leave the caps in the bottles. So If you do separate out the caps, then pack them in your check-in luggage. Oh and BTW, I've got a HUGE 7 day capsule thingy if you want it, I bought it online from the US, not realising it was actually made for elephants or something. Email me offlist if you want to use it. Oh and I have a US passport so it wasn't because I was foreign, just because they were bored, I think and just wanted someone to go into that little room with them... ;-) Best wishes, Darla
Guest guest
We holiday in USA pretty regularly (family and friends there) I have never taken a letter from Dr H and have not had any problems (so far!) I just put all the supps in small zip lock bags and write on the front what they are. The MB12 jabs go into a small freezer bag with frozen ice packs I then pack this in my suitcase. The hold on a plane isn't heated so they have always stayed cold. Apart from the supps I need for the journey everything else goes in suitcase. Hope this helps Gail > > Hi Nicola > Fantastic you are off to Growing Minds so soon, can't wait to hear how > you all get on. > When we went to son rise last June we took a letter from Dr H > explaining about the supplements we were carrying, including MB12. Guest guest
We took all our supps in hand luggage last year, including bottles of Brainchild vits and mins. We didn't have any problem with customs, all capsules were in their original containers. MB12 were in our suitcase. We had more problems with gluten free food at Orlando airport. They really did not like the fact that we had food in our hand luggage, even when we had explained why. Not sure about this year after all the terrorist threats etc., I think I will give Virgin a ring before we fly in May to see what they will let us take. Guest guest
you'll have a great time - but it's hard work! Also leave some luggage space in case you want to order some stuff whilst you're out there, it's cheaper to order from Different Roads to Learning for example and bring it back than pay postage to UK. I am envious - we go back in November, too long!! We always take things in their original packaging and often in a cool case (whether or not they need it) to take in hand luggage. Brainchild do mini sizes. MB12 jabs - you'll have to phone them as you can't take sharps into the plane. Better to phone ahead on that one and they'll take care of them for you. YOu don't need a moment's hassle at the airport. If you're flying with Virgin we foudn them terrific - we told them of our needs in advance, fast check in, priority boarding, priority seating (bulkhead), couldn't do enough. If you're flying BA - they need a kick really. Even if you pre book bulkhead you need to remind and remind and insist. And you need to double check special meals when you check in and remind them again at check in that they need to treat your child like a VIP. In their best interests!! Theyre fine, nice people but their policy is not as advanced as Virgins on special needs IMHO > > Hi > > We are off to Florida in 2 weeks on an intensive Growing Minds course and was wondering if anyone has advice on the following matters: > > a.. Guest guest
Hi Nicola, I recently ( 9th February, hence I missed the Conference) went abroad (Muscat) with my ASD daughter. I decided not to put her supplements into a suitcase..............just in case 'the case' got lost in transit. If you put into your hand luggage, which is what I did, then you will need to take each individual supplement (tablet/capsule form) in it's proper container. You may risk having them taken from you if you don't. Any liquid filled capsules, again in it's proper container, will need to go in the plastic bag for Security to examine. I suggest a couple of extras, just in case they ask to take one yourself. Sorry, I don't know about MB12 shots - we're not having this.. Also take a letter confirming as to why your child is taking them. My daughter is on 15 different supplements and I just took the amount, with a few spares, required for the holiday and then chucked out the empty containers before my return journey. Hope this helps. Carol, Mum to Joanne, 12 HFA and also has Ileal Lymphonodular Hyperpalsia.

Guest guest
Hi I get funding from my LEA (Swansea) - so I have paid for the course over 2 years so the LEA funding can pay for the full cost of the course and I have fundraised (by holding a raffle, holding a race night etc) to pay for the travel costs and accomodation.
