Guest guest
Cathleen, Hi, Hi I hear you. It is possible that the young 23 year old woman might be drawing SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) off of her ex- husband's work record. But this is a longshot, since she is so young, unless her husband was older oor some other situations are in place, and without knowing more, I can't say. Email me privately if you want to. You appear to have a good work record, and I don't understand why you have been denied - or are you just calling and SSA tells you that you will be denied? (SSA will result to BS at times, don't take it). I'd suggest you refile a new application on-line with all the requested information, medical background, etc. Too much time may have lapsed since the quarters you worked, but there are ways around that. As for SSI, that program is entirely different and is based on financial need. It seems to me you should also re-apply for this, if you haven't done so already - although the SSI program takes into account a spouse's assetts, and this could offset your eligibility. And remember too, there is great fraud within the SSA system, meaning people apply for benefits, and are approved for some unknown reason. Of course with the new alerts in place with other governmental agencies, the new Continuing Disability Review schedules, the collection of overpayments, and an outside audit of the SSA, we hope all that truly deserve benefits will be able to receive them. I'd be glad to help you refile your SSDI application - no charge either. ~ Gretchen
