I have some good news to share with the group. On March 13th I had a

neurostimulator implant. So far so good. I suffer from peripheral neuropathy and

it's severe at night. This implant has helped. I don't get stimulation in my

toes but my doctor says it's because

there is so much nerve damage to them. I do rest better at night. The surgery

was rougher than I had expected. There is lots of bruising and soreness but it

was well worth it to me.

Dear ,

Please, let me know exactly how is this implant? Where have you done it? I am

not very well with my balance and hips pain. Weaker legs etc. I have CMT type 1

and feel very bad with my right foot and wonder if this could be also an idea

for me. Are you in USA or UK?

I am looking forward to hear from you. Thanks a Lot and God Bless YOU!

Joanna,

Iam from Kentucky. (USA) My procedure was done in Lexington, Kentucky at the

Univerisity of Kentucky Hospital. My surgeon is Dr. Witt. He specializes

in patients that suffer from chronic pain

(my implant is for neuropathy pain). I too suffer from weakness in my legs. Some

days I think I have spaghetti noodles for legs. I have CMT 2. I not only have

severe neuropathy but have undergone four

surgeries since 2001 for corrections in the joints of my feet.

I am very happy so far with the neurostimulator. The stimulation does not reach

into my toes (due to severe nerve damage) but is wonderful

on my calves. I have also seen improvement in the frequency of leg cramps at

night. Hope this helps.

Dear ,

Thanks for your reply! So, you are in USA...I think the doctors in USA knows

better about CMT...Really!!!I never heard of such implant here in Uk for some

reason.I wonder if someone here in UK knows about this???

Can you walk fine now ? Gosh, you had so many operations on your

feet...I remembered here few years ago when I tried to get one operation in

order to improve my feet..the doctor got very upset with me at that

time...though I would need a special shoes instead of a new feet...Ha!

I was then very upset because I though I could do something to feel

better while walking. As you can see I am completly lost in this subject because

before I could do so much and never really bother about having CMT..I did not

know much about this condition.

Two years ago around my menopause things starting to change. I

became much weaker in my calves muscles and no longer I could be on

my tip toes either. Now I am tring to find out more about this hip problems

too...I am trying to find out more and more! I wish you ALL the best to

YOU!!!!!!!! Thanks again.

Take Care .

Hugs

Joana
