Guest guest
Hello CMT Group: I'm Donna , 54, Type 2 (no DNA test, clinical evaluation), native Dallas Texan and temporarily living in Anaheim, CA, with husband of 22 yrs. who is a consultant who has been accepting contract jobs anywhere. (Yes, I've been to Universal Studios and Disneyland, let's hear it for scooter power!) He left Alcatel where he worked for two years and went to Cisco Networks and after two years they had the major downsizing when the IT business bombed and took a lot of jobs overseas. It has led to our selling our home, storing all of our belongings and going wherever the jobs lead. This lifestyle has been very stressful for me. Being dependent Luckily, we didn't have children, only Yogi our dog and since I married at 33 and he was 40 I didn't have to struggle or debate the children issue, children were not part of our future. The hotel room is ADA accessible, but we all know we have to do our own modifications. I drove my van behind him to Tinton Falls, NJ, then to Clearwater, FL, and now we're in Anaheim. I don't want to do that again! I'm praying that he'll get a full time position soon so we can settle but who knows what will happen. I'm enjoying the adventure but wondering if I'll ever get my things out of storage! Well, you all can understand my frustrations. I miss home and all my family. Yes, I've been in and out of groups and newsletter lists. I know Crabtree and Gretchen through those media venues over the many years (Hi, Gretchen and !), I've just not posted. You proably know more about me than you wanted, but I'm an open book so they say, and I usually let my emotions flow. Right now in my life and my current lifestyle arrangements, I feel like I need support in the most urgent way - I need friends. I'll try to be on a positive slant, I have a lifetime of dealing with CMT, sometimes it's hard. I did attend a CMT support group Christmas Party in Tustin and hope to see all again next month. It was a great time and we both had a great time and they were all so nice to us. I had to leave abruptly and didn't exchange any numbers or emails and hope to be able to hear from some through this site. The MDA Coordinator here invited me to the Orange County Christmas Party at the Crystal Cathedral Art Gallery, but we missed it as we thought it was at night and it was during the day - - that really upset me as I don't have a full calendar ! I've gotten medical doctors at UCI at Orange and will see again the MDA doctor in March. I've seen their PT and Occupational Therapist who both evaluated me for a new scooter and both said I was a " miracle " in that they don't know how I've stayed mobile and that they cannot help me. This evaluation and process is what I want to discuss here. So, without going into anymore details in my introductory I hope to address issues as topics. I have posted a few pictures here in my photo album named Donna's Photos. Please stop in and see me and . I look forward to reading and posting to this group.
