Guest guest
Hi, I just had to put in my 2 cents in response to Donna's note about her experience with her yoga teacher. First of all, I was appalled. Secondly I want to let you know that it doesn't have to be that way. I guess I would encourage you and your friends to find a better teacher. My daughter and I went to a yoga class put on by the U of Michigan Hospital's Spine Clinic. She has CMT and I have some other issues (lymphedema due to breast cancer surgery and stiffness in upper shoulder for which I was having PT at that time). Anyway, the teacher was great and put a great emphasis on the fact that yoga can and should be done with cognizance of each person's special limitations and that in no way lessens the positive effects of doing yoga. In fact, he said that they started these classes as they had seen too many people coming to them with injuries due to badly taught yoga classes (especially pushing people to do poses that they couldn't do or weren't' ready to do). He also recommended yoga places in our community that are good. I definitely think you should give the teacher a piece of your mind and take your business elsewhere. Very sorry you had to experience this!
