Magnets for water - which side?

I'm sure this has been discussed here before, but I didn't really

pay attention to the use of magnets until now. So please don't

be too harsh with me for asking about this. I just want to learn :)

I'm becoming interested in " energizing " my drinking water by

using magnets. I drink bottled water, so I'd like to place a

magnet on the bottle. I have read that the north pole should be

used, but I'm a bit confused about this. Could someone please

explain to me which side of the magnet should I use? Could

someone answer the following:

If I attach a thread to a magnet and hang it so it will move freely,

eventually it will stop spinning and settle with one side facing

Canada and the other side facing Brazil.

Wich side should face the water I want to 'energize'? The side

that faced Canada or the side that faced Brazil?

Think of your answer as the " Energizing Water for Dummies "

(me) instructions, so please don't be too harsh with me for

asking this way. I just want to make sure I'm doing it right. TIA
