There is a really nice Shriner's in St. Louis - in the Ladue area.

There is a house you can rent a night in like a hotel for $20 or $25 a

night if you have to commute more than a half hour, I believe, nearby.

However, there are no Mehta-trained docs there, yet.

If you're looking for a Mehta-trained doc, I'd recommend Chicago

Shriner's. I believe it's the closest. We're in the St. Louis metro

area and there isn't a lot around here ;)

Jenni,

Maybe we can work together on Dr. Nigel Price. He is head of orthopedics at

Children's Mercy there. I've been wanting to drive 3 hours and introduce him to

Early Treatment!! Kansas and Missouri are underserved in this treatement.

We consulted with him while Mo was in her second halo. He is now Veptr

trained and they also have a halo program there. All the hospital is missing is

Early Treatment. From what I've heard he treats many children. Especially

those traveling from Kansas and surrounding states. has invited him to

every ETP but he has yet to attend. With ET getting more press and the new

article by D'Astous and , maybe he would consider learning. I am so glad

Caleb is down to 6 degrees!!! I think Price could follow him, especially since

they do bracing there. I would love for him to see how Caleb has been affected

by ET!! Let me know what you think!

Hey Jenni,

Just wondering if you have moved yet and how everything is going with Caleb?

Thanks for the info, Sandi! Sorry for the long delay

in responding. It has been hecktic here to say the

least.

Our ortho gave us a couple of names in Kansas City,

one of whom another Dr. recommended. We're going to

start there (within our insurance network) and see

where we get. I have family in the Chicago area so

the Chicago Shriners is always an option. I trust the

opinions on this message board so it made sense to see

if there was any orthos in KC that folks here would

recommend.

Thanks to those who offered input!

You can also consider the Denver Children's hospital. We see Dr.

Mark kson and he is great. He is Mehta trained and has the

correct table for casting. It may be closer than going to Chicago.

Thanks for the info, Janet! I was refered to another

Dr. at Children's Mercy so it would seem we have good

odds out there. We're not worried about casting at

this point since Caleb is in a brace and is 3 yrs.

old. Sadly, I think we've passed that window of

opportunity should his back get worse. For right now

Caleb is in a good place (continuing to get

correction) so we feel we have time to find a good Dr.

I plan to go on some " interviews " before picking a

Dr. We still have 3 more months before Caleb's check

up.

Thanks, again, for the input!

Thanks, Rochelle! Denver seems to be another option.

I would have to worry about housing there, though. I

grew up just outside of Chicago so I know the area and

still have family there. My sister also says there

are really cheap flights between KC and Chicago. I

haven't had the time to read messages on this board

for a few months so I can only assume Chicago is still

an option, but it's good to be reminded of others.

Thanks, again,

Hi Jenni -- I'm Rochelle's mom and just wanted to let you know there is a

Mc house near Children's if that would be an option for you.
