heather - every single time we go for an xray we take the xray IN brace. the

only way we were told that they can tell if the brace is holding her is to see

it in the brace. basically, with lexi's first brace, we took an out of brace

film to get her starting point so to speak. we knew she was X degrees without

anything. then 2 weeks after the brace we went in and took an in brace xray and

saw the brace was holding her at X degrees ( less than out of brace ). granted,

if she is only out of the brace for an hour or so, you wouldn't really see much

of a difference in degrees unless her spine is just insanely flexible and not

holding at all without the support and aid of a brace. we only take an out of

brace film on lexi maybe once a year, and we have her out of the brace for 24

hours prior to that film being taken. usually we see a 1-2 degree difference but

that is nothing now since she is corrected to 4 degrees.

so, i would push for an in brace film just based on my experience alone. also,

make sure she is standing if possible and not being held upright straighter than

she would normally stand and without her arms being above her head--basically,

just her normal standing position whether it be in or out of the brace.

GOOD LUCK!

HELP NEED ADVICE QUICK!!!

Hey everyone, I need some advice please. We are in SLC right now for

Lily's appointment for a new brace and things are not going as I had

hoped. We took an out of brace x-ray and her curve is about 16 degrees

of course 5 degree error which it looks the same as last visit if not a

tiny bit worse. My question is, this is our third brace and they have

never taken a new in brace x-ray before. How do they know if the brace

is doing what it is supposed to? They tell me they never do in brace

xrays but that just doesn't make sense to me. Don't you think you would

want to see if the brace is made correctly and doing its job. You would

think if they want her to wear it for 5 months they would want to make

sure it is actually correcting the curve more than it was before. I am

going back in tomorrow afternoon to pick up the new brace. Should I

begg for an xray or what? Any Advice would be great.

Hi

Siobhan ALWAYS had an in brace x-ray done - Often that would lead to

more adjustments, to make sure the brace was doing the very best.

I'd ask tomorrow for an x-ray...

Please keep us posted.

Erie does an in brace x-ray. I would definitely persist in requesting an in

brace x-ray.
