...This is why I love this forum....we have so many diverse opinions. Up until he had his own show, I really enjoyed him on Ophra. He seemed to change (in my opinion) when he started his own show....a bit brassier, I don't know...just different. Then when I heard of having to sign the papers...well...that changed my mind fast.

I must agree that having his family does tend to take away from the show. His son really tried to take off on his father's name, and the show flopped badly here in Calif. Don't know if it is on in other areas.

I may not agree with Dr. Phil's philiosophy, but he does have some good points...and he DOES definitely have an attitiude of "Say it like it is" which is not necessarily bad. I guess sometimes it is hard to take the "I know more than you" (Judge Judy) attitude...which is another scenerio altogether! LOL

It does concern me that they did not respond to your question....that really is not right. Makes one wonder indeed where they obtained their information.

As for him being a PhD "I had read" that he did have a 'real' one. He is to be commended in achieving a successful TV program. It is just my hope that people don't just take his word on matters, and they seek the truth for their lives.

Now, the waiver....the point is that your mental status is firm. Those who are on the program obviously are in need of therapy. I believe my friends told me that Dr. Phil didn't want to be sued by someone who said something differently that what a personal therapist would say. It is impossible to know a person in therapy in a one hour program. I do believe the Dr. Phil does pay for continual counseling after some programs, but I truly have not watched in years, so don't know what the forum is like now.

You are funny.... "Dr. :! I eally tink that we all should write! and keep the man honest or at least make him aware of the true statistic!

Re: [ ] Dr. Phil

I wrote a while back asking where they got their figures and told them that giving misleading and false information could be harmful for those waiting for transplants. I asked for their source of information.

I never received an answer.

That's weird that your friends had to sign such a waiver. I thought that people on his show were there for therapy so why can't people in need of therapy be in the audience?

I do like Dr. Phil. He's entertaining but I think it's tacky the way he gets his son and wife to participate on his show. They aren't very interesting and I doubt that anyone really wants to see them. It doesn't reflect well on Phil's judgement. Someone mentioned that he's not really a doctor.

Maybe if we would all write we might make an impact. Obviously, I didn't.

Good luck,

Dr.

(just kidding)

Jo Lynn...personally I don't care for Dr. Phil. I had a friend who went once to be in the audience. What she relayed to me was this...each and everyone who sits in the audience MUST sign a form stating they have NEVER had mental problems and have NEVER had a need for a therapist. If you HAVE had experience with a therapist for any reason whatsoever, you are denied entry.....it is amazing to me that everyone in the audience has NEVER see a therapist? Maybe I am just the oddball, but many many people I know have been in that chair! After I heard the paperwork that had to be signed, I realized that perhaps he has some tactics that are less that honorable.

I would be happy to write and add to the campaign...just let me know where I write!

Oh my gosh! Certainly some do die, but the people I personally have come into contact have not had any problems but excellent ones! A teacher where my husband works just had one and is just peachy! Hmmmm...yes, I will write!

They were featured a second time this past week. The first time they

were featured, they dealt with ADD/ADHD patients. Last Wednesday,

they featured two patients with Bi-polar disorder and showed the SPECT

results on one of them. It showed how an anxiety reaction in the

man's brain was the trigger for a chain-reaction of neurological

events in his brain, so it was easy to see that controlling his

anxiety was the best way to treat his bi-polar disorder. It made it

obvious that different patients diagnosed with the same disorder might

still have different triggers. It was very interesting, and the man

who underwent the SPECT was excited and grateful to know EXACTLY what

is going on.

Alice,

Thanks for the URL!

What other three links described the show? The only link I could find was " see a

day in their life. "

,

Scroll down the whole page - there are four sections.

The other three are:

" You know what I thought? I thought, I'm going to save the day. "

" There are two heroes whom God has given those little girls. "

" See the surprises Dr. Phil has for and Liz! "
