Red Devil Lye is no longer being made. I understand Lowes has a brand,

but don't know off hand what it is.

Hi -- Unfortunately I think that's the way it's going most places.

Looks like we'll be saving ashes from our wood burning stoves to make our

own lye from here on out.

That's everywhere! Bummer. I used to get it at our local grocery store now I

too will need to look for a supplier.

Has anybody had trouble getting lye? I teach soapmaking but haven't

been making soap for a long time myself. I just got a call from one

of my students that has been having trouble getting lye. They called

Red Devil and was told that they were no longer making the crystals

because of all the meth labs around. Is it just our area or is it all

over?

Red Devil is no longer available any where unless someone has back stock

left over. Some of the stores like Home Depot & Lowes, depending on the

area do have brands of lye that are 100% pure lye.
