Guest guest
As you know, my neurologist took me off work last week and so I'm officially on FMLA with my employer. I'm getting the paperwork completed with them and they want me to visit the company doctor next week. I think it's just a documentation thing and I've seen this doctor about 6 years ago when I first received an accommodation to work at home for my disability. Problem is, company doctors know next to nothing about neuropathies but they THINK they know it all. This same doctor first said to me six years ago, " so, how's your feet? " Obviously, not understanding the multitude of other issues associated with CMT. Anyway, I'm looking for any advice on how to approach my visit next week. What should I say and what should I NOT say? What are they really looking to find out during a company doctor visit anyway? Also, the company's nurse that I spoke with today asked when my follow-up visit with my neurologist would be, obviously expecting it to be soon...like in a week or two. They are used to disabling INJURIES not chronic illnesses. My neurologist didn't actually want me to return for 8-10 months (which is earlier than the normal annual visit) but I'm thinking that that's not what the company wants to hear. Should I schedule another appointment sooner and when?
