From the keephope article, I have to stress here that although selenium is

essential for glutathone peridoxase manufacture, the limiting factor in that

manufacture is known to be the cysteine.

Cysteine's bioavailable form is the dipeptide cysteine=cysteine called

cystine, and it is found in many foods at low levels.

We don't get enough cystine in the normal diet to raise GSH levels to 100%

of potential. Under a load that depletes GSH, such as HIV Hep or practically

any other infection, toxin load, parasites, althletic performance, eating

rancid oils, normal living, etc,, you can see how we can get into trouble

and stay there. In all those situations we are in oxidative stress.

That's the main reason to supplement with Immunocal, the exemplary cystine

donor.

<<Selenium along with Cysteine are the best known precursors to increasing

Glutathione production in the body.>>

I always recommend attention to both of the above.

ciao

Duncan,

Still following this glutathione discussion.

If cystine is the ingredient of immunocal which is beneificial because it is

used in the bodies manufacturer of glutathione, then what is the difference

between immunocal and straightforward cystine from the health food shop?

Thanks,

Simon

We are currently using Biocare Nutrisorb Selenium 4 drops spread outthroughout the day. There appears to be some advice that suggests notusing Sodium Selenite variety. We have found Kirkmans selenium-Selenomethionine as an alternative. We are unsure of what dose touse as this comes in 100mcg capsules. Any advice appreciated.

>>Kirkmans is good form, not more than 200mcg per day, I do give that amount but less is often advised

Not sure if you are chelating at the moment. However, did you give selenium whilst chelating and with other supps?

>>Oh yes, chelating or not and always at 200mcg because he was low per RBC minerals th efirst time out.
