Guest guest
From where I sit, best to get the children tested early, not only so you can start with PT or the right shoes, and all, but so by the time they reach school age, IF they need an IEP, OHI and other things to be set up, it will be easier to deal with. Just because a child doesn't show symptoms now, doesn't mean that by age 4 or 7, the symptoms won't be there (I was 7 when my symptoms showed up and fortunately I had stellar care, physical therapy, beach walking, one surgery that has lasted my whole life, good shoes, etc) Plus that my scout leader knew I had CMT, so did my camp (no, I did NOT go to MDA camp). While I did not choose to have children because I have CMT, IF I had them, I sure would have had them tested AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE, and IF the PGD stuff was available, I would have had that. ~ Gretchen
